My ears perk up the minute I hear “beignets.” I seriously go to Scat Cat Club Cafe at least once a month so I can dive into a pillow of powdered sugar with a delectable doughy inside.

At Scat Cat Club Cafe at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter, they also offer a gluten-free version of their iconic beignets, and we’re here to see if they’re just as delicious as the traditional version. Join us to listen to jazz performers and enjoy beignets — all gluten-free.
We tried the Gluten-free Beignets for $7.99, and right off the bat, we noticed they looked pretty similar to the traditional version. The classic ones are Mickey-shaped, but they’ve been known to offer square-shaped ones for special occasions (like the Ghoulish Beignets, which are not ones you’ll want to miss).

The texture was more similar to funnel cake, rather than a traditional beignet. The inside is hollowed out, it just doesn’t create the puffy dough in the middle like the classic. That being said, it had a great balance of crisp on the outside and soft and doughy in the middle, just not as puffy. We thought these tasted very similar to the classic version, and we might have even been fooled into thinking this wasn’t gluten-free.

Of course, they were coated with powdered sugar, which is the optimum of what makes a great beet. We think this is one of the better gluten-free desserts you can find across Disney World, and we appreciated that there was a similar option for the whole table to enjoy together.

They are also the same price as traditional beignets, which is kinda the best thing we’ve ever heard. We’re used to seeing allergy-friendly items have a bit of a higher price point, but here, you can order three beignets for the same price.
I could probably go on and on about beignets, but just know that these were a great option if you’re looking for a gluten-free snack. Make sure you keep following AllEars for more.
