Did Universal just give us a HINT at its upcoming UK park’s name?

Universal has been BUSY lately, in between the debut of Epic Universe, building the first of its kind Universal Kids Resort in Texas, and purchasing land for yet another international park. While we’ve already seen evidence of construction on some of Universal’s newest park projects, there’s one curious detail that could give us a clue as to what’s to come for another.
If you’re feeling a bit like Universal Studios has been popping up everywhere as of late, you wouldn’t be wrong! Universal has just kicked off its Halloween Horror Nights season on both coasts, recently celebrated some major milestones for award-winning rides at its newly opened park, Epic Universe, and continues to build out the first Universal park designed for small kids and toddlers to enjoy. Seriously — they’re EVERYWHERE right now, including around the globe.

If you’ve been following Universal news with us for a while now, you’ll know that Universal has also had its eye on building another international park in the United Kingdom. Now, Universal’s latest actions may have offered a hint at the name of this new park!

On September 8th, Universal filed an application with the Intellectual Property Office to register the use of “Universal United Kingdom Resort.” While Universal reportedly declined to comment when the BBC approached them about the filing, it’s certainly piqued our curiosity. If this is to become the park’s new name, it does follow a pattern previously set by Universal in naming their previous parks and resort properties. Universal has been known to use either country or city names within their property trademarks, such as Universal Studios Japan or Universal Beijing Resort.

Upon further examination of the application, it appears that Universal noted the name was tied to amusement park services and hotels. If approved, the intended trademark could also be used on various items such as merchandise, apparel, toys, and more. It’s also worth noting that back in August, Universal also applied to use “Universal Studios Grand Hotel” in connection with entertainment services, hotels, and restaurants.

As of now, the application is still pending approval from the government, and we’re not certain if Universal intends to combine the applied-for “Universal United Kingdom Resort” or “Universal Studios Grand Hotel” in conjunction with the new park’s city, which is to be located in Kempston Hardwick, near Bedford.

For now, it seems that we can only hope that this sleuthing has uncovered what we’ll one day know this new park’s name as and be able to refer to it by its proper name while it’s still under construction.
We’ll continue to keep you updated on Universal’s construction, updates, and more right here at AllEars, so be sure to check back in with us soon.
