Walmart is recalling roughly 850,000 water bottles.

The choice was made to recall the stainless steel water bottles after several of the lids began to “forcefully eject”, hitting the person using the bottle. This has led to two people experiencing permanent vision loss due to the injuries.
According to the Associated Press, the water bottles being recalled are the Ozark Trail 64 oz Stainless Steel Insulated Water Bottles. These water bottles have been sold in stores since 2017. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission released a notice warning that the bottles could cause “serious impact and laceration hazards.”

The CPSC shared that the lids were ejecting from the bottles “after food, carbonated beverages or perishable beverages, such as juice or milk, are stored inside over time.” The product recall began on July 10th, 2025. Once Walmart announced the recall, three customer reports were received, citing injuries, with two of those reports containing permanent vision loss after being hit in the eye.

The CSPS is encouraging anyone with the bottle to stop using it and to reach out to Walmart for a full refund. You can also bring your water bottle into your local Walmart for compensation. In a statement to the Associated Press, the company said, “The health and safety of our customers is always a top priority.”

If you still have the packaging for the water bottle, the model number is 83-662. If you no longer have the packaging, the bottle is silver with a black screw top lid. It features an Ozark Trail logo on the side of the 64-ounce bottle. As always, be sure to keep following AllEars for more products and news.
