2025 is the year of new lounges in Disney World!

Both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT are getting new lounge areas where you can unwind with a delicious beverage and take a break during your theme park day. We recently got the name and details for EPCOT’s location, and now we know more about Magic Kingdom’s!
The new pirate-themed lounge in Magic Kingdom is going to be called The Beak and Barrel. It will open later this year in Adventureland.

Legend says that it’s “established by the legendary pirate rumrunner, Captain Meridian ‘Merry’ Goldwyn, and her talkative first mate, Rummy.” Rummy serves as the tavern’s quartermaster, keeping an eye on everything from his roost. He makes sure everything is ship-shape and even hosts a toast or two!

Longtime Disney fans will note that Rummy bears a “striking resemblance” to the original Barker Bird that used to sit at the entrance of Pirates of the Caribbean. That’s a fun detail!

The biggest central space at The Beak and Barrel was once the mess hall for Spanish soldiers and is now known as “The Mess.” Long tables span the room, which is anchored by a large bar. An anchor covered in candles serves as the room’s chandelier. Disney says that, “Guests may also spot the Enchanted Rum Bottle, which was gifted to Merry by the enchantress Tia Dalma and seemingly serves as the source of the tavern’s specialty brews, or Rummy hobbling along the bar’s ledge, greeting the patrons and keeping a close eye on the crew while Merry is away.”

Another section of The Beak and Barrel is the Captain’s Quarters, where you can enjoy a taste of the finer things. Above the fireplace in here are mounted five miniature ships in glass bottles, and they’ve been known to come alive and engage in battle — so keep a look out!

Wow! Sounds like there are going to be plenty of details to look out for in this space. Stay tuned for more updates as they’re released.
