NEWS: U.S. Government Issues 3 New Travel Advisories for Caribbean Destinations

The U.S. Government has issued some additional travel advisories that you will want to be aware of if you are taking a cruise or traveling soon.

The U.S. Government issues travel warnings and advisories to ensure U.S. citizens are making informed decisions when deciding where to travel. Recently they issued advisories for three Caribbean destinations.

On November 12th, the U.S. Government issued travel advisories for Saint Vincent and The Grenadines, Grenada, and Bermuda due to the impact Hurricane Beryl had in these countries.

While all of these countries are still at a Level 1 travel advisory which means exercising normal precautions when traveling, the U.S. Government has issued some warnings about travel to these areas. These countries were impacted by Hurricane Beryl in July 2024, and buildings and infrastructure were damaged.

The U.S. Department of State has four levels of travel advisories. The lowest level, Level 1, means to exercise normal precautions, while the highest level, Level 4, means do not travel.

In Saint Vincent and The Grenadines, the damage has resulted in fewer hotels and transportation options. In Grenada, the damage has also resulted in fewer food options. As well, fewer hotels are available, and internet service was severely impacted. It is recommended that you contact your destination before traveling to any of these areas to learn more about potential damage.

These destinations in the southern Caribbean are stops for various cruise ships and while cruise ships do also monitor travel advisories and local conditions, it is also important that you are making informed decisions about your travels.
