While Florida is home to amazing experiences like the Disney and Universal theme parks, it is also home to some severe weather.

Experts predicted a “potentially explosive” hurricane season in 2024 and it appears that Florida will continue to experience some rough storms. Hurricane season in Florida tends to run from June through November and it can be a tough time to visit the state. Unfortunately, as we find ourselves in the thick of hurricane season, it looks like we might be barreling toward another potential storm.
According to WFTV 9’s team of meteorologists, a new major storm system is moving toward Florida and a potential hurricane could make landfall as soon as August 3rd, 2024.

According to the report, the storm is currently a tropical wave over Hispaniola (as of this writing) and has been designated as Invest 97L. The storm’s development is expected to slow over the next one to two days.
Fox 35 Orlando’s weekend meteorologist Noah Bergren has reported that the National Hurricane Center is saying that tropical development has a 70% chance, a noticeable increase from past calculations. The National Hurricane Center also warned that a “well-defined tropical wave is producing a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms.”

The storm is currently moving toward Florida and the eastern Gulf of Mexico and the warm tropical waters could help strengthen the storm into a hurricane. The next hurricane is dubbed Hurricane Debby.
Those traveling to Disney World or other Florida theme parks in the next seven days should definitely keep an eye on weather reports. If you’re visiting one of Florida’s many theme parks, be advised that severe weather could cause flight cancelations, transportation delays, ride closures, park closures, and more inconveniences.

It’s worth noting that the system is still in the early stages of formation and the situation could rapidly change, so be sure to check back here at AllEars for the latest updates.
