NEWS: ABC Admits to “Clickbait Casting” on Dancing With the Stars

We’ve all heard of stunt casting, which refers to the use of celebrities in certain roles to draw in more crowds, specifically on Broadway or in live productions. However, have you ever heard of “clickbait casting?”

Neither have we… That is, until today! ABC studios has admitted to “clickbait casting” for one of their live television productions, and we’ve got all the questions.

ABC Studios’ Dancing With The Stars has admitted to using “clickbait casting” in their recent seasons! The reporters on the Television Critics Association press tour said that “clickbait casting” is something that is needed for shows like Dancing With The Stars.

It is said that “clickbait casting” is done so that audiences know who is on the show and producers hope that audiences who don’t know the stars will continue tuning in as they fall in love with the performance that is being given. When a person you like is on the show, it can entice people to watch and hopefully like what else is happening in the show!

Considering Dancing With The Stars is about stars learning to dance, we’re not sure we’d even call it “clickbait casting” if someone is famous enough to be known and on the show. We recognize that it happens but will definitely admit we think it’s interesting to see!
