Attention: All Marvel fans — we have some news for you!

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is loved by many and brought many beloved characters to life. The ending of Avengers: Endgame brought up many questions about the movie series as we know it. We witnessed the funeral of one of the most iconic characters in the franchise — Iron Man. Knowing the MCU, we sat back because they were going to somehow bring him back… right?
Well, that may not be the case. Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios sat down for an interview with Vanity Fair and gave us a more nuanced answer to that question — and it isn’t what we wanted to hear.

In 2019, we saw Tony Stark for the last time in the MCU. He did a total of 10 films and became a household name. When we watched his funeral unfold, we were seemingly unphased because the MCU tends to bring back characters from the dead in one way or another. However, Feige states “We are going to keep that moment and not touch that moment again”.

When we saw this, our jaws dropped. It is very understandable why this is the conclusion that Marvel executives have come to, but we are still a little shocked by it. Feige gave his reasoning, stating “We all worked very hard for many years to get to that, and we would never want to magically undo it in any way.”

In addition to that, another actor in the MCU, Joe Russo, stated “We’d already said tearful goodbyes on the last day of shooting. Everybody had moved on emotionally. We promised him it would be the last time we made him do it—ever..”. Saying goodbye to a character that is such a keystone in the series is never easy as a viewer– but we can’t imagine how hard that must be for the actor who portrays that character.

We understand why they aren’t going to bring back Tony Stark– but it is still a sad realization for us. Feige didn’t talk about the rumors of other characters returning, so keep checking back with us at AllEars for any MCU updates!
