The Major Shoe Mistake People Keep Making in Disney World

A Disney World vacation means lots of fun and magic, but it also means lots of WALKING.

Now, if you’ve never been to Disney World, you may be underestimating just how much you’re really going to walk, but many of our reporters average 10-12 miles a day no matter what park they’re in. This is why it’s so important to have the right shoes for the parks, but some people who have great shoes are still making one huge mistake.

Just having the right shoes for your vacation isn’t the only step. No, you have to break in your shoes before your vacation!

Get ready for lots of walking!

Remember getting a new pair of shoes for school, and the first few times at recess you’d have to get used to how they fit? They may have even hurt a little bit at first, but then you break them in and they almost feel like the mold to your feet.

That is exactly why we’re reminding you (and ourselves) to break in the shoes first — no one wants to be in pain while they walk around Disney World, especially with new shoes you just spent money on. So how can you best break your shoes in before your vacation? Here are a few tips:

Get your new shoes at least two weeks before your vacation
Wear them around in your daily life, even if that means in the house
Go on a few walks in your neighborhood/surrounding area to test them on different surfaces
Make sure to get shoes that are in the proper size and have the support you need

Pack your walking shoes!

We have tons of different suggestions for what shoes are the best for the parks, but we encourage you to do your research and maybe even head into a store to try some shoes on in person to save you time. Whatever you have to do, save yourself the pain and break those shoes in!
