Sure, we go to Magic Kingdom for the classic attractions like the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean, but over in EPCOT, we’ve been known to make a special trip out just for the food.

Recently, Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya (a new Table Service restaurant located in EPCOT’s Japan pavilion) opened its doors to guests, and we were among the first to check it out! Of course, we have lots of thoughts about the food, but there’s lots more to discuss about this new restaurant. Let’s peek inside and see what it’s like!
Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya is EPCOT’s newest Table Service restaurant, and you can find it on the second floor of Mitsukoshi in the Japan pavilion. In fact, it took over the spot previously known as Tokyo Dining. Currently, dining reservations are open for dates starting on August 28th, but if you want to dine there earlier, there is walk-up availability throughout the day.

This spot is meant to be a little different every season, with rotating offerings based on Japanese seasonal festivals. Oh, and some of the decorations may change with the seasons, too, so each visit might look a little different!

For the summer, Shiki-Sai is honoring the Tanabata Festival. According to the information at Shiki-Sai, you can celebrate Tanabata by making decorations, enjoying noodles, and writing wishes on colorful paper strips (tanzaku), which are then hung on bamboo branches.

Now, let’s talk about one of our favorite details: the windows! We aren’t talking about any old regular windows here. Instead, we’re obsessing over these digital windows that give us some stunning views of a Japanese garden.

If you’re lucky, you might even see a colorful fireworks display! And here’s a secret tip: keep your eyes out for hidden Mickeys. You never know when one might appear! Note that not every table has a special window, so you might want to make a request before being seated.

These digital windows reminded us of the windows at EPCOT’s Space 200 restaurant! If you love peering outside at Space 220 to watch fun scenes unfold, you’ll love Shiki-Sai, too!

If you’re more interested in the REAL world, though, you can also enjoy some stunning views of World Showcase Lagoon (and EPCOT’s live fireworks, if you’re lucky).

If the food alone wasn’t enough to tempt you to check this place out, maybe these gorgeous views will influence you to book a reservation! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
