In case you missed it, Disney World just dropped a whopping ton of holiday announcements!

Some of them were pretty massive, like the reveal of the Disney Very Merriest After Hours event and the dates for the International Festival of the Holidays. However, there were also some smaller details that you may have missed, and we’re sharing that list today!
Disney Very Merriest After Hours Will Be Longer Than BOO Bash
Disney World already switched its Halloween party over to an After Hours event this year, so it wasn’t too shocking when they announced the same thing for Christmas this morning. However, it seems like the Christmas version may be a bit more worth the money — the Disney Very Merriest After Hours is one hour longer than the BOO Bash!

Each evening, the BOO Bash runs from 9PM to 12AM or 9:30PM to 12:30AM, while the Very Merriest event will be running from 9PM to 1AM each night. Guests can enter Magic Kingdom at 7PM for both events, meaning that you could get up to an hour of extra time for the holiday After Hours as compared to the Halloween version. Add in the bonus of Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks, and you’re likely getting more bang for your buck (depending on the price!).

The Projections Won’t Be Consistent
If you’re hoping to see the holiday projections that will adorn the park icons at Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom, there’s something you need to know. These projections won’t be showing consistently throughout the night, they’ll instead be alternating with the “Beacons of Magic” decorations/projections for the 50th Anniversary.

The “Beacons of Magic” will swap back and forth with the holiday projections on Cinderella Castle, the Tree of Life Awakenings at Animal Kingdom, and the Sunset Seasons Greetings on Tower of Terror. Disney hasn’t yet shared how often these transitions will take place, but it’s something to be aware of for your photo ops.

Cavalcades Are Back at Some Parks, But Not Others
In the announcements, Disney noted that Santa Claus would get his own motorcade at Hollywood Studios and that there would be festive flotillas at Animal Kingdom, but the other two parks were mysteriously left without any cavalcades.

At EPCOT, this isn’t as surprising, considering socially distanced meet-and-greets are becoming the norm around the park. However, at Magic Kingdom, Halloween cavalcades were announced for the BOO Bash — could this mean that the Christmas parade is coming back instead? We’ll have to wait and see what Disney says, but we find this lack of information pretty suspicious!

Jock Lindsey’s Holiday Bar is Coming Back
Not only will you find holiday snacks in Disney World this year, but you’ll also find a holiday-themed restaurant! The Indiana Jones-themed Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar in Disney Springs is once again getting a seasonal makeover complete with festive decor and a special menu. We can’t wait to visit!

Free Holiday Treats Are Available at Very Merriest After Hours
Typically Disney’s After Hours events offer some kind of free snack to help balance out the cost of the event. Usually, the list includes bottled water, bottled sodas, ice cream bars/sandwiches, and popcorn. However, on Disney’s website, the list for Very Merriest also includes “holiday treats!” In the past, free cookies have been available at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, so will that option come to this event as well? We’ll find out!

Disney Avoided Discussing Very Merriest Entertainment
We were given details on dates, fireworks, snacks, decorations, and more for the After Hours event, but Disney avoided mentioning any entertainment! Besides the fireworks, there were no details on stage shows, parades, or even the Dapper Dans. This is pretty unusual, so we’re wondering if this means they’re planning a bigger entertainment announcement in the future. It may just be a matter of waiting to see how reopening continues to move along.
