The holiday season will kick off in Disney World this year on November 12th and, we’ve already got TONS of details on all the festivities that will be arriving in all four parks!
Disney will be hosting a new After Hours event (that will replace Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party) and bringing back the EPCOT Cookie Stroll, plus there will even be new unique opportunities to meet characters, including Santa Claus. But, there’s one holiday tradition in Magic Kingdom that likely won’t be returning this year.
Disney has announced that, as part of the holiday season, special holiday projections will transform Cinderella Castle most evenings with red and green towers and snowflakes (which is similar to what we saw last year).
But, one thing that was missing last year due to the projections was the Cinderella Castle Holiday Dream Lights. So, we likely won’t see these return to Magic Kingdom again this year.
If you aren’t familiar with the Dream Lights, it was a long-time holiday tradition for Disney to transform Cinderella Castle with thousands of twinkling lights. And, each night, characters from Frozen would come out and cover the castle with “snow.”
Disney has not shared an official announcement on whether the lights will (or will not) return to Magic Kingdom this year, however, the returning projections and 50th Anniversary decorations on Cinderella Castle may be its replacement this year. We’ll continue to keep an eye out for updates, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for the latest!
