A year ago, the notion of photoshopping ride images at Disney World and digitally altering the appearance of visitors would seem…bizarre. But since this is 2020, it’s a topic that’s not only possible, but apparently quite relevant!

To better highlight proper mask-wearing protocols, Disney had tinkered with photoshopping masks onto guests who weren’t properly wearing them on rides, but it appears this is no longer happening! What a wild ride indeed!Â
Ever since Disney World reopened in July, the parks have been super strict about ensuring guests adhere to safety measures, social distancing, and mandates. This certainly includes face masks!Â

As sternly communicated on signage throughout Disney World, proper face coverings are required at all times, except when eating or drinking (or swimming), and while stationary. This of course means masks are required on rides, but when guests are zipping along roller coasters, it’s not exactly easy for Cast Members to enforce these rules at all times.Â

Naturally, whether by accident or oversight, masks slip off the occasional guest while mid-ride, and inevitably it would show up as such on ride photos!Â

Since mask-less ride pics aren’t really what Disney is going for right now, especially as coronavirus numbers continue to rise in Florida and around the country, they dabbled in digitally altering ride photos to add masks to folks not properly wearing them.

But after a brief trial, Disney has quickly decided that they won’t continue with it! We’ve confirmed with a Cast Member that they’ve stopped editing masked ride photos.

Suffice to say, 2020 proves time and again that it’s a wilder ride than anything at Disney World!
