Earlier this spring in the wake of the global pandemic, states across the country formed economic recovery task forces that assembled industry leaders to help their states reopen safely and effectively. In California, the economic recovery task force included the Executive Chairman of the Walt Disney Company and former CEO, Bob Iger.

We are now seeing reports that he has stepped down from the task force, according to the Sacramento Bee.
A statement was issued by a Disney spokesperson who says Bob Iger has quit the task force, but an exact reason for him stepping down was not noted.

The announcement comes at the end of a seemingly tumultuous day between the state government and the theme park industry. This morning, we reported that the state was preparing to release their reopening guidance for theme parks this week.

That was later followed up with the California Attractions and Parks Association, who represents Disneyland and other theme parks in the state, asking the government to not release any guidelines without first working with industry leaders.

We will continue to keep a close eye on any updates coming out of California when it comes to the theme park reopening guidelines and we will let you know as soon as we learn more!
