While smaller attractions such as Gatorland and Fun Spot look towards reopening dates, the larger theme parks of Orlando still have not set timelines for their own reopening.
However, according to recent reports, it looks like SeaWorld is at least testing out measures that could be implemented when they do reopen.
According to a report from the Orlando Sentinel, riders were spotted testing out SeaWorld’s Mako roller coaster while wearing masks today.
The newspaper picked up photos from Dan Leavelle of Midway Mayhem, who reported that “he watched about 30 run-throughs for about an hour and that he didn’t see any masks fly free while he was watching.” Later in the day, a SeaWorld spokesperson confirmed to the Orlando Sentinel that the roller coaster was ride tested.
While SeaWorld has not set a reopening date or timeframe, the ride testing with face coverings could imply that this is a protocol the park is looking at for a future opening. At this time, face coverings are required for the recently reopened Universal Orlando CityWalk, and have also been listed as a requirement for Disney World’s Disney Springs, which is set to open tomorrow.
