The 4 Worst Things We Ate in Disney World This Month

We’re in Disney World each and every day, and it’s part of our jobs to try what’s new in the parks when they arrive.

Just like how not everything you try at home is a winner, the same can be said for Disney World. Sometimes, we get into a review a little nervous to try something, and it surprises us, and other times, we expect something to be delicious, and it lets us down. Out of all the dozens of things we ate in Disney World this month, there were FOUR items that, as sad as we are to say it, we don’t recommend.

Over at The Market at Ale & Compass, one of the treats available for Easter is the Painted Egg Whoopie Pie for $5.79. We thought the cake would be super sweet, but in fact, the only sweetness we got was from the cinnamon, and it totally overtook the rest of the flavors. The frosting is extremely sweet, though, and it doesn’t pair super well. It reminded us of a pumpkin bread in a way, but since it’s an Easter treat, it REALLY threw us off. Not to mention, it’s incredibly sticky and will begin to dye your hands and everything it touches the moment you pick it up.

It looks like spring but tastes like fall?

If you’re looking for a delicious Easter treat around the resort, we recommend grabbing the Spring Popcorn Mix from The Confectionery!

Tiffins also got a new menu this month, and one of the items we tried was the African Pot de Crème for $13. Unfortunately, this just wasn’t great. The presentation was stunning, and we loved the cookie on top that was like tiramisu, but the cream itself was not what we were expecting. It was strangely salty, and the chocolate base was super tough, so much so that we couldn’t get our spoons through it. The matcha cake crumbled up on top had no flavor, and next time, we’d ask for the pineapples off of ours, because the flavor didn’t mix with the others.

We did love the new Seasonal Sorbet Trio for $11 on the menu, though, so if you want to try something off the new menu, this is what we recommend.

We also checked out one of the most iconic restaurants in Magic Kingdom, Be Our Guest, and while we wanted to love the Crème Brûlée Tart we got for dessert, it let us down. The cream was loose and not quite set, making for a very goopy experience. While the crust was quite good and the meringues were light and airy, the lemon in the cream is highly acidic, which is why we think the cream wasn’t set right.

If you want a delicious sweet treat in Magic Kingdom without needing a table service reservation, we recommend either the Cinnamon Roll from Gaston’s Tavern nearby or grabbing the simple yet delicious Cheshire Cat Tail at Cheshire Cafe.

We’re usually big fans of Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, but this spot also got some new menu offerings, and unfortunately, the Yuca Fries with Plant-Based Beef and Asian Slaw for $14 weren’t great, in our opinion. We didn’t mind that the seasoning on the fries was light and only provided a little kick, but the main issue was that the yuca fries weren’t as crispy as we expected; they were very starchy on the inside, and they didn’t feel “fresh.” As for the beef, it only tasted like the sweet brown sauce it was coated in, and they were too chewy for our liking.

Now, we did really enjoy the Spicy Honey Pork Wings for $15, which is also new on the menu. While they weren’t super spicy, the sauce is both sweet and tangy, while the pork is nice and tender, so these were winners in our book.
