Toy company Mattel released some exciting news this week – they’re opening a water park! It will be the first Mattel park ever and feature iconic toys, Barbie, and Hot Wheels, according to the Orlando Business Journal.

The 11-acre water park will be just 10 minutes from Disney Springs, making it perfect for visiting families. The Vineland Road location will be convenient for both tourists and locals. Here’s everything you need to know about the Mattel Wonder Indoor Water Park!
The Mattel Wonder Indoor Water Park will be a 90,000 square foot indoor water park, an outdoor water park and event lawn, a 42,000 square foot slide zone, and over 11,000 square feet of retail space.

The water park will have wave pools, lazy rivers, and water slides. We don’t have details on attractions yet, but we do know that some of the water park will be themed after iconic toys, Barbie and Hot Wheels.

The indoor water park portion will be Orlando’s first retractable-roof water park. The water park will be inside a building so it can stay open during rain or extreme weather, but the retractable roof means that on nice days, guests can still soak up the sun. In theory, the Mattel Wonder Water Park will be operating reliably every day, unlike nearby outdoor water parks, Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, or Volcano Bay, which close for extreme weather.

Mattel is also building two theme parks in Glendale, Arizona, and Bonner Springs, Kansas. Mattel Adventure Park will feature iconic toys, Barbie, Hot Wheels, Thomas the Train, He-Man’s Masters of the Universe franchise, and the card game UNO.

The theme park will have a Barbie-themed area with a life-sized Barbie Beach House where guests can build a customized Barbie set at the Barbie Dream Closet Experience. The area will also feature the Barbie Flying Theatre along with a bar and restaurant, The Barbie Rooftop.

The park will also have two Hot Wheels-themed roller coasters. Hot Wheels™ Bone Shaker®: The Ultimate Ride and Hot Wheels™ Twin Mill® Racer attractions will be available at both the Arizona and Kansas parks.

The parks were expected to open previously, but have been continuously pushed back due to construction delays. Follow AllEars for more theme park and water park updates!
