Disney Moves Forward With Construction for New 'Encanto' Ride

We all love Animal Kingdom, and we’re even more excited about its newest expansion project, the Tropical Americas land. The land will include attractions with our favorite character, Indiana Jones, and an all-new ride featuring our favorite Disney family, the Madrigals from Encanto.

We’ve been following updates on the new land, so when we saw the President of Walt Disney World, Jeff Vahle’s, newest Instagram post, we were so excited. Not only is construction moving forward, but Animal Kingdom cast members just had the most sentimental day at work.

During the construction of Disney attractions, it’s customary for Imagineers and creators of attractions to sign an element of the ride. It’s a big deal when Cast Members get to sign rides, too, which just happened today at the Encanto ride. Cast members from attractions to custodial left their mark on Disney history.

Now that we know Disney has beams for the ride on-site, we can assume that they’ve started building structures for the ride as well. Our update from last month showed a small amount of ground-level construction with freshly poured concrete, but the beams were not on-site yet.

The Encanto ride will take guests through the Madrigals’ house when Antonio accidentally uses his powers to transform the home into a jungle. You’ll explore the house and encounter fan-favorite characters from the movie. It will take place during the film and add to the plot we already know and love.

While we don’t have an opening date for the Encanto ride yet, it is expected to open in 2027. To see Encanto at Walt Disney World in the meantime, catch the “¡Celebración Encanto!” show at EPCOT or view the family’s parade float at Magic Kingdom’s “Starlight Parade.” And as always, stay tuned to All Ears Net for more updates on Animal Kingdom.
