Why Disney Adults Are Suddenly Running to PetSmart

It’s a beautiful thing when pets and Disney fandom come together!

You don’t need to go the Disney Parks to get your Disney fix! You can find all things Disney in your own neighborhood. In fact, we found a Disney-themed pet at our local PetSmart, believe it or not!

During a normal day out at PetSmart, one of our reporters noticed a pet fish named after Mickey Mouse himself!

The Mickey Mouse platy fish can notably be found at PetSmart, and is our current obsession due to the hidden Mickey prominently featured near its tail!

We spotted both a gold AND red Mickey Mouse platy at the store, and it was awfully tempting to take these cuties home!

Also called xiphophorus maculatus (its scientific name),  golden moon platy, and moonfish, these low-maintenance freshwater fish have a 5-year life expectancy and are native to North and Central America.

Nicknamed after the very noticeable  “Mickey ears” near the tail, Mickey Mouse Platy have all sorts of colors, such as gold, yellow, red, orange, and even blue. They’re generally peaceful and get along well with other fish species. Make sure you read up on care requirements before buying one of these little cuties!
