6 Things Cast Members Wish You’d Stop Doing When Standing in Line at Magic Kingdom

When you’re planning a park day at Magic Kingdom, be sure to keep these 6 things in mind while waiting in line!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Waiting in line is just part of the Disney experience, especially at Magic Kingdom, where the rides are legendary and the crowds are constant. From Peter Pan’s Flight to Space Mountain, even the most magical attractions can feel less fun when the queue drags on or guests around you make things difficult. Cast Members do their best to keep the lines moving and the atmosphere upbeat, but there are a few habits they wish guests would leave behind.

1. Sitting on the Rails

Those rails in the queues might look like the perfect place to lean or sit, but they’re not meant for that. Cast Members will tell you again and again: please don’t sit, climb, or balance on the queue lines. It’s not just about keeping the line moving. It’s a safety issue for you and the people around you. No one wants to start their ride with a scraped knee or worse, and CMs don’t want to spend their night reminding people to “get down, please” every few minutes. Keep your feet on the ground and your energy saved for the ride ahead.

2. Talking Obnoxiously Loud

We all love to chat while waiting in line, but remember, your neighbors in the queue (and the CMs standing nearby) can hear everything. Keep your volume at a normal level, and be mindful of your topics, especially since kids are almost always within earshot. What might seem like harmless venting or joking can come across as rude to others stuck in close quarters. A little courtesy goes a long way toward making the wait more pleasant for everyone.

3. Not Keeping Up with the Line

Cast Members want wait times to be as accurate as possible, and that means guests need to keep the line moving. When you’re glued to your phone or not paying attention, you leave big gaps, and those gaps make the line look longer than it is. If you’ve ever been hurried onto the Rise of the Resistance shuttle, you know the kind of efficiency CMs love to see. Staying alert and stepping forward quickly helps everyone, and it means you’ll be on your ride just a little bit faster.

4. Spilling Your Food and Drinks

Snacks and Disney go hand in hand, but bringing food into an indoor queue can cause problems. Dropped popcorn, spilled drinks, and sticky candy messes aren’t just unpleasant, but they’re a hazard for the guests walking behind you and a cleanup headache for Cast Members. If you really want to enjoy your Mickey pretzel or Dole Whip, finish it outside before hopping into line. That way, you won’t have to worry about sticky shoes or guilty looks from the CM with the broom.

5. Holding Spots in Line

One of the quickest ways to annoy both guests and Cast Members is holding a place in line for a big group. Having one person stand in line while the rest of your party shows up later means a lot of pushing, squeezing, and frustrated looks. The polite move is to wait together from the start. Of course, if your child needs a bathroom break or someone in your group needs medical assistance, CMs will absolutely understand. Just give them a heads-up, and they’ll help you rejoin your party without creating chaos in the queue.

6. Not Watching Your Kids

Disney is built for families, and kids are full of energy — that’s no surprise. But when little ones start climbing rails, hanging off ropes, or standing on props in line, it becomes a safety concern. Cast Members don’t enjoy having to remind parents over and over to watch their children, but they will if they have to. Keeping an eye on your kids not only keeps them safe, it also keeps the queue experience smoother for everyone else. Plus, it helps ensure your family is focused on the fun that’s coming up, not on a CM’s tenth warning.

  1. When you have to stand in endless lines all day for 3 or 4 rides in 100 degree heat, me and the kids need a drink and a sit down. Plus the fact that Disney now caters to people who have money to spend on line cutting passes making the lines even longer for the average family. Add the fact that many rides are closed for “refurbishment” all make the lines suck and make you question why you are spending all this money to be miserable and be judged by others. FYI, I don’t condone with saving spots though. This is true for any lines anywhere.

  2. I wish they would install benches along the lines. Its very hard standing in line for 45-50 minutes. If you look around in the lines mist people are leaning while waiting.

  3. Too much PDA in such close proximity to other people including children is disrespectful. It’s worse if they’re dressed immodestly.

  4. I hate it when people finish snacks and drop the empty cups and containers on the ground. Make the littered put up their trash and get to the end of the line!

  5. That Tiana’s Bayou Adventure sign reminds me of the 1927 Mississippi river flood disaster. I wish they would be respectful to the 1927 flood victims rather than parading and romanticizing 1927 which is when Jim Crow laws and segregation was once legal in North America. Also they should honor the African American man James gooden who was attacked by a sheriff in 1927 and later passed away as there was police brutality back then in the 1920s along with the mobsters attacking cities during the bootleg era. And also play songs by African American women singers Mamie Smith New Orleans and songs by Sippie Wallace, Bessie Smith and Laura Smith so they are remembered. Also I want Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to get revised with more animatronics spoonbill birds lady butterflies etc and tell us the story about Tiana during the 1927 flood and how Tiana rescued people from flooded houses and serve gumbo soup at Red Cross camps.

  6. Honestly I think Disney shouldn’t outlaw line holding. It’s one thing to leave the line you’ve waited in to use the bathroom and rejoin your group. Another thing entirely for one person to stand in line for 1 or more to join at a certain point. The latter should be expelled from the park. They let it get out of hand so they need to tighten up.

    1. Yeah, it happened so many times. We’re not confrontational, so we let them pass by and cast members don’t enforce it. My 17 year old was about ready to say no. She jokingly said; “maybe I should say my Mom’s up ahead.” Lol! ?

  7. We were just at Disney world and had snacks and drinks and planned to wait outside. The CM told us to bring it in and finish and that there were trash cans inside. They should ask for it to be finished if that’s what they prefer.

  8. I agree with 5 of these because sitting on the rails is a relief when standing for so long. Both Disneyland and Disney World need to have a lot more benches to sit on while waiting in line. I guess they forgot that senior citizens also come to their parks and a lot of us have leg issues and can not stand for log periods.

    1. Standing for long periods of time is pure agony for me so I am one of those who will try and find something to sit on or lean against. It’s that or I can’t go on the ride. Or I spend more money buying jump the queues passes
