The Disney Dining Plan is a controversial Disney World offering, and we’re letting you in on everything you need to know.

The Disney Dining is a Disney World vacation package add-on that gives you dining credits at select restaurants. There are a few versions of the plan with different budgets and some enticing deals that undoubtedly tempt prospective Disney World guests into buying in. If you’re thinking about getting the Disney Dining Plan during your next visit, we’re letting you know about the pros and cons of this dining perk to help you make an informed decision!
The Disney Dining Plan is an optional Disney World Vacation package add-on that can be used for packages featuring Disney-owned and operated hotels. With the plan, you’re essentially pre-paying for your meals and snacks at Disney World, albeit with an allocated credit system.

The two plans include the Quick Service and Standard Disney Dining Plans.
Per Disney, the rules for the Standard Disney Dining Plan are as follows:
- Everyone in the travel party will receive 1 Table-Service meal per night, 1 Quick-Service meal per night, and a snack/nonalcoholic drink per night of their package stay—along with 1 Resort-refillable drink mug. Meals and snacks can be redeemed at any time during the stay.
- Beverages are included with each meal. Guests under 21 years of age may choose from a variety of nonalcoholic beverages. Guests 21 and older with valid identification may substitute beer, wine, and cocktails.
- The cost of the Disney Dining Plan is per guest, per night, at the following rates:
- $97.70 per adult per night ages 10 and up
- $30.78 per child per night ages 3 to 9
- This cost is added to the regular cost of a Disney World Vacation Package.

Per Disney, the rules for the Quick Service Dining Plan are as follows:
- Everyone in the travel party (ages 3 and up) will receive 2 Quick-Service meals per night, a snack/nonalcoholic drink per night of their package stay – along with 1 Resort-refillable drink mug. Meals and snacks can be redeemed at any time during the stay.
- Beverages are included with each meal. Guests under 21 years of age may choose from a variety of nonalcoholic beverages. Guests 21 and older with valid identification may substitute for beer, wine and cocktails.
- The cost of the Quick Service Disney Dining Plan is per guest, per night, at the following rates:
- $59.14 per adult per night ages 10 and up
- $24.70 per child per night ages 3 to 9
- This cost is added to the regular cost of a Disney World Vacation Package.

Unfortunately, it was revealed earlier this year that both Disney Dining Plans are receiving a price increase in 2026. Next year, the Quick Service Plan will cost each adult $60.47 and $26.16 per child.
The Standard Plan will cost $98.59 per adult and $31.94 per child.

And that’s where we’ll start the discussion of whether or not the Disney Dining Plan is worth it. You’re seeing the numbers. You can add that up per person per day and get an idea of a food budget. For many folks, the Disney Dining Plan doesn’t wind up in the savings category. You could wind up paying hundreds of dollars a day, spending more than what you would’ve spent had you NOT bought the plan.

HOWEVER, you can often find Disney Dining Plan deals! Right now, you can get a FREE dining plan for kids ages 3 to 9 when you purchase a Walt Disney Travel Company package for you and your children that includes a room at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel and a dining plan for each Guest ages 10 and up. This deal is valid for arrivals in 2026.

Additionally, for travel in 2025, you can save up to 20% on dining for kids ages 3 to 9 when you purchase a dining plan for your family as part of a Walt Disney Travel Company package.

Still, these deals require established Disney Dining Plan purchases, so how much you’re actually saving is unclear.
If you’re bringing your own food, dining outside the Disney bubble, or want to eat at your own pace on your own budget, the plans might not be for you.

Still, there are plenty of perks!
For starters, you don’t have to think about out-of-pocket costs when you dine since this is a prepaid option. You already know how much you’re spending before you even arrive in Disney World (although gratuities aren’t included in the cost).

You also get a ton of restaurants and food options to choose from at the Disney hotels, Parks, and even Disney Springs. You’re definitely not limited on cuisine.

You also get covered at character meals! These meals are pretty expensive as is, so it’s nice that they’re included in the Standard Disney Dining Plan. The same can be said for Disney World’s incredible steakhouses!

Additionally, you’ll be able to get alcohol and other specialty beverages like milkshakes, smoothies, and mocktails covered by the Plan.
Then there are the snacks, of which you’ll get a hefty selection to choose from. You can use “snack credits” all over Disney World, and not all of them are super cheap, giving the Disney Dining Plan another bonus. In fact, you’ll find eligible items during EPCOT’s seasonal Festivals.

And, of course, the Refillable Resort Mug is a great perk, especially if you plan on spending a good amount of time at the hotels. These mugs are good for refills from self-service beverage stations at any Disney Resort hotel Quick-Service location (whether you are staying at that particular hotel or not) for the entire length of your trip, up to 14 days.

The out-of-pocket cost for a Refillable Resort Mug is $22.99 in 2025, so this could be a nice way to save cash.

At the end of the day, whether or not the Disney Dining Plan works for you and your family is…well…up to you! We can only give you all the facts you need to make an informed decision.
