Changes are coming to Hollywood Studios, and they’re coming fast.
This month, we’re in for another round of closures in Hollywood Studios for a brand-new experience that makes us want to grab our pencils and sketchpads and get animated.
Animation Courtyard is closing on September 24th to make way for the Magic of Disney Animation. Along with Animation Courtyard, Star Wars: Launch Bay, and Disney Jr. Play and Dance! will permanently close.
The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure will remain open during construction as well as once The Magic of Disney Animation opens in 2026. This reimagining of the musical started in May 2026 and is a fun take on the original story.
Disney Jr. Play and Dance! was temporarily stopped when Cool Kid Summer started in May, with the idea of it returning when the event ended on September 1st. For Cool Kid Summer, it was turned into an all-day dance party where you could come in and dance with your favorite characters without any set show times. This show will be continuing until September 25th, when the full area closes.
What’s coming to the new space? So much fun! The whole space is themed to Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California, and will bring the love for animation to life. There will be tons of character meet-and-greets…
…an indoor playground themed to Mary Blair’s original concept art for Alice in Wonderland…
…and drawing classes. The building will also be topped with Mickey’s iconic sorcerer’s hat, which was once a fan favorite symbol of Hollywood Studios before it was removed.
Disney says, “Our story in this newly reimagined space begins as the animators have temporarily stepped away… but the building is still buzzing with activity as the characters have come to life and they’re ready to play!”
