Hold up. Did Target really get rid of one of my favorite customer perks?

This might have been a perk you weren’t even taking advantage of, but now we must say goodbye to saving money when shopping.
According to CNN, Target is changing its price match policy. Previously, customers could request a refund for the price difference of a product if an identical item was found at Amazon, Walmart, or Target for a lower price within 14 days of the original purchase.

Now, the price matching will only work for the same product found on Target’s website or store within 14 days, excluding Walmart and Amazon. This policy will take effect on July 28th.
Target’s price-matching policy began in 2013 and is set to end 12 years later, while Walmart discontinued its policy in 2019. Amazon never had a price-matching policy.

These changes are coming after a decrease in sales due to “tariff-related uncertainty as well as backlash from some customers about its reversal on diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.”
If you want to save a bit of extra money, make sure to check the prices on products you’ve recently purchased, whether online or in Target stores. The policy will still work if Target itself lowers the prices on its products.
