Have you ever spotted these Hidden Mickeys?

For the uninitiated, Hidden Mickeys are exactly what the name implies: Visual representations of Mickey Mouse. These are usually, but not always, simply versions of the three-circle silhouette that is famous around the world. While there are Hidden Mickeys scattered across Walt Disney World property, some are better known amongst fans and Disney Adults than others.
Mickey from Above!
Let’s begin in Hollywood Studios, which is (kind of) still home to what’s been called the largest Hidden Mickey in the world.
Upon the park’s opening in 1989, several structures located in the center of the park made up a massive Mickey face when seen from above. While construction in the intervening 35+ years has broken the symmetry a bit, the Mickey face is still visible.

Hollywood Studios isn’t the only hidden Mickey visible from above, however. One of Disney World’s solar farms is shaped like a massive Mickey! According to Sunceco, “The array, known as the Hidden Mickey solar farm, is part of a 15-year agreement with Duke Energy. Earlier this year, Walt Disney World Resort announced a partnership with Reedy Creek Improvement District and solar project developer Origis Energy USA that will blow the Hidden Mickey solar farm out of the water. The new 50 MW solar farm will house half a million solar panels and produce enough energy to power two of its four theme parks in Central Florida.”

Some of the other, more prominent Hidden Mickeys displayed at Walt Disney World include the place settings at EPCOT’s Garden Grill…

… this plant in Living with the Land…

… and this Mickey mural in Animal Kingdom’s African village, Harambe. While this example may not be as inconspicuous as some of the others, it has to be included on the basis of its name alone. It’s known as “Fichwa Mickey”, and “fichawa” directly translates to “Hidden.”

A bit more off the beaten path, there are several Hidden Mickeys spread throughout Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana.

Would you spot these?

How about this snowflake in The Land pavilion?

Steve Barrett’s Hidden Mickey books are the best. I’ve completed the WDW one and even got a mention in one of the later editions as someone who pointed a Mickey out that he had missed. He told me this and showed me in the back of the book when I met him at an Allears meet in OKW many years ago. I also have the cruise line version (my copy only covers the first 4 ships) and have finished the sections on the Magic and the Dream. These books are great ways to visit areas of the parks, hotels and ships that you might otherwise miss and show you how to appreciate the details added by imagineers.
On a different note, well done Disney on the new solar plans!
