We Regret To Inform You About This Big Disney World Hotel Change

Planning to stay at Disney’s Yacht or Beach Club Resort anytime soon? You might want to keep reading.

Disney’s Beach Club Resort

These fan-favorite resorts are going through some pretty major changes — and no, it’s not just the pool this time. Disney just dropped new details about even more construction coming to the Beach Club, and it’s going to last longer than you might expect. If you’re someone who prioritizes hotel vibes and amenities during your stay, this update could change your whole vacation game plan.

More Construction at Yacht & Beach Club

You’ve probably already heard about the refurb happening at Stormalong Bay — easily one of the most iconic pools on Disney property. This shared pool between Yacht and Beach Club Resorts closed in January 2025 for a major refresh, and while we were originally left in the dark about a reopening date, Disney later confirmed it would be back sometime in June 2025.

Construction from February

And while we were crossing our fingers for a speedy finish, Disney decided to hit us with another curveball.

In addition to the ongoing pool work, Disney just announced that Beach Club’s exterior is getting a facelift too. We’re talking full-blown construction, scaffolding, noise — the works. According to Disney, “routine exterior maintenance” will kick off in early June 2025 and last through September 2025. So yeah… that’s not a small window.

Lots of scaffolding

If you’re staying at Beach Club during that time, prepare yourself: construction zones will be visible, noise will likely be part of the daily soundtrack, and the hotel’s porte cochere (the covered drive-up area at the front) will be closed for the duration of the project. Don’t panic — valet, luggage services, and transportation will still be available — but your arrival experience is going to look and feel very different.

What About the Pool?

We’ve been tracking the Stormalong Bay situation closely, and for a while, things weren’t looking super promising. The pool was completely drained for months. Crews were constantly on site. We spotted scaffolding everywhere. For a resort that charges premium prices (and gets booked fast), this was a bummer.

But here’s the good news: there’s water in the pool again.

That’s right — one of the biggest signs that progress is being made has finally happened. As of late May 2025, the pool is filled once again, which is a strong indicator that Disney is in the final stretch of the project. There’s still plenty of scaffolding up, so don’t expect a full reopening overnight, but this is the biggest leap forward we’ve seen in months.

The water is back!

Assuming no delays pop up, it looks like we’re still on track for a mid-to-late June reopening. If you’re traveling in July or later, you might just get to enjoy the full Stormalong Bay experience (lazy river and all). We’ll keep you updated the second Disney drops a confirmed reopening date — but for now, cautiously optimistic is the vibe.

Heads-Up: More Disruptions Ahead

We’d love to say that’s the end of the list, but there’s one more thing. Disney also noted that the Disney Skyliner will be closed for refurbishment from January 25th through 31st, 2026. This is a relatively short closure, but if you’re planning a winter trip in early 2026 and were banking on the Skyliner being your breezy ride to EPCOT or Hollywood Studios — you’re going to need to pivot.

Skyliner in EPCOT

During the Skyliner downtime, Disney will provide bus transportation, so you’re not totally out of luck. Just be prepared for longer wait times and a little less magic when it comes to getting around.

Should You Still Stay There?

Look, we love Beach and Yacht Club. The walkability to EPCOT? Incredible. That deluxe resort atmosphere? Absolutely top-tier. But if you’re planning a stay between June and September 2025, you need to ask yourself how much construction noise and visual disruption you’re willing to tolerate.

Construction at Yacht and Beach

If you’re going for the full resort experience — lounging at the pool, soaking in the peaceful ambiance, enjoying the lush landscaping — this might not be the right season for a stay. On the flip side, if you’re mainly using your room as a place to crash after long park days, and you can overlook some scaffolding and mid-day noise, you might still be perfectly happy. Either way, now you know what to expect — and that’s what we’re here for.
