REVIEW: Spit Fyre Grill at How To Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk in Epic Universe

Over in How to Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk at Epic Universe, there’s SO much to explore.

Isle of Berk

You can meet Toothless and Hiccup, as well as Astrid and Stormfly, ride three (!!!) different attractions, grab yourself an iconic mac and cheese cone, and so much more. With so much to do, you’ll want to make sure you’re not wasting time on something that will let you down. We stopped by Spit Fyre Grill, one of the quick service spots in the land, to see if it’s a good choice during your day, and we’re here to give you our full review!

Background

Spit Fyre Grill is located close to the Fyre Drill water ride in the land and is a grab-and-go style eatery serving up hearty meals flame-seared by a helpful (unseen) dragon fry cook. Sitting in the dining area of the restaurant gives you an awesome view of the attraction nearby, which never gets old, in our opinion.

Food

We tried two different offerings during our visit, starting with Hiccup’s Salmon Bowl for $18.99. This is made with ancient grains, grilled citrus salmon, jicama slaw, blistered cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, and avocado crema.

Hiccup’s Salmon Bowl

The salmon was well-cooked and was a pretty substantial size for the price we paid, which we were thankful for, since this isn’t cheap! The blistered cherry tomatoes and feta cheese were fantastic in flavor and texture, and this felt like an elevated dish that reminded us of what you would get at a “build your own bowl” restaurant.

We LOVED these tomatoes!

This didn’t feel like theme park food to us — it felt like what we would get at a restaurant we chose to go out for the night and eat at to treat ourselves. Not to mention that it was VERY filling and is a great healthier option if you’re looking for something that will keep you full but not make you feel “blech” for the rest of the day.

We were very impressed!

We also grabbed the Valka’s Vegan Bowl for $15.99, which is Kale spring mix blend, bean salad, pineapple salsa, candied beets, vegan feta, mango, and mint vinaigrette.

Valka’s Vegan Bowl

This is shockingly spicy! It’s a pretty basic salad bowl — kale, spring mix, beets, mango, a bean salad, and even some spiced apple cubes. The vegan feta is something we don’t have often, and it’s really fun — salty and delicious like real feta! The beans give it protein and flavor, and the mango in the salad really brings it to the next level.

We really loved this!

It’s honestly hard to believe this combination of ingredients would end up spicy, but Universal went there, and we admire them for it! We thought it was delicious, but we’ll be honest, the heat level here might keep us from ordering it often, because that spice latches on and then won’t let go. If you’re spice-adverse or sensitive to it, you’ll want to stay FAR away from this one.
