It goes without saying, but we’ll say it anyway — an uncomfortable ride vehicle can absolutely derail a ride experience.

Universal Orlando Resort is home to some AMAZING attractions, and we’re big fans of the theme park experience of this resort, overall. Yet, we can’t hide a glaring truth: There are quite a few UNCOMFORTABLE ride vehicles that can really ruin the attraction. Some are manageable, while others are just unbearable. We’re taking a look at 10 to see how they stack up!
Islands of Adventure’s Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls is one of those rides that we just can’t fully get behind, thanks to an uncomfortable seating experience. Our team has ridden every ride in the Universal Orlando parks many times, and we can tell you there are nine more rides that have similar — but not as bad — issues. We’re ranking them from kinda comfortable to Dudley Do Right’s!
Skull Island: Reign of Kong
Skull Island: Reign of Kong is a controversial ride in itself, based on the perceived level of entertainment, but it doesn’t help that the seating situation isn’t ideal.

The ride vehicle is a themed tram (not too dissimilar to the tram over at Universal Studios Hollywood) that does not have any real restraints. The problem with this ride when it comes to comfort isn’t really even centered around the motion. Sure, you jostle quite a bit during this 3D experience, but the real issue is that the benches aren’t spaced far enough apart, and tall guests will feel very cramped.

Revenge of the Mummy
Universal Studios Florida’s Revenge of the Mummy is one of the best roller coasters in all of Universal, but it has some restrictive issues.

Seating and the lap restraints are tight. It’s all for a good reason, as this guy gets pretty fast with speeds up to 45 mph. But still, you feel pretty attached to your ride seat without any real physical freedom.

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts
Universal Studios’ Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts is one of the most beloved rides at Universal, but we have some minor complaints.

This roller coaster has some of the same issues as the Mummy coaster. You are locked in tight in a small space, and there are annoying restraints over your shins. The worst bit is the thigh-pinching, but it’s not enough to stop us from riding this over and over again.

The Simpsons Ride
The Simpsons Ride at Universal Studios has pretty mixed reviews, and a lot of the criticism includes the ride vehicles.

There is a safety lapbar, but you’ll probably still slide around on a tight plastic bench that offers no real lumbar support. The ride vehicle is fully based on simulated movement, but that doesn’t mean you won’t be shaking quite a bit.

Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure
Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure is one of the BEST rides in all of Universal, hands down. But that doesn’t mean some guests won’t find it uncomfortable.

While the sidecar offers a more traditional ride seating experience, the bike seating can feel a bit odd. There are feet guards, a lapbar, and you may lean forward holding onto the handlebars. It’s certainly a different kind of roller coaster experience that feels odd if you’re not expecting it.

The Incredible Hulk Coaster
Back at Islands of Adventure, The Incredible Hulk Coaster is one of the park’s staple attractions, but it’s not for everyone.

The ride itself can be kind of bumpy, and with paired with shoulder restraints, the experience can turn quite a few people off.

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
Islands of Adventure’s Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is incredibly popular, but that doesn’t mean it’s flawless.

You fly around in enchanted benches with shoulder restraints holding you in. The ride twists and turns you at every angle aside from fully going upside down, but you get close. The ride vehicles for this attraction can be very uncomfortable for a good chunk of guests, and as such, have received several complaints over the years.

Caro-Seuss-el
It feels odd to put a merry-go-round from Islands of Adventure on this list, but here we are.

Caro-Seuss-el‘s ride vehicles are TINY, hard plastic, and just super uncomfortable if you’re an adult or teen. We have been surprised by just how uncomfortable this ride can be.

Hiccups Wing Gliders
Finally, an Epic Universe ride is making this list! While fans are still getting their feet wet with this new park, one ride is already garnering a bad reputation.

Hiccup’s Wing Gliders is a family coaster that offers a significant amount of punch. It’s also a ride some of our reporters dread riding. It can pinch your thighs so badly that the whole ride experience is ruined.

Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls
We’ve finally made it to the infamous Islands of Adventure ride: Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls.

This roller coaster-water ride hybrid is mostly fun, but the ride flumes offer an incredibly tight fit, forcing you to sit front to back, single file, with your knees awkwardly wedged behind the person in front of you. It’s also so difficult to get in and out, especially after you’ve been soaked.

When it comes to Universal rides, many of them have accessible test ride vehicles that you can try out before deciding to ride. We strongly recommend taking advantage of this offering.
