There are literally HUNDREDS of restaurants in Disney World, but there are a few that we adore more than others.

One of those such spots is Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at the Beach Club Resort. This cutesy little restaurant offers the retro experience with sandwiches, ice cream sundaes, and a bright and cheery vibe. We seriously love dining here! But right now? It’s just not quite the same.
One of the BEST pools in Disney World (perhaps even the #1 best pool!) is Stormalong Bay. This gigantic pool is shared by the Yacht Club and Beach Club Resorts, and not only is it massive, it also comes with a sand bottom, a lazy river, and a pirate-themed waterslide.

Overall, it’s a pretty great perk for staying at these two hotels, and it’s a big draw for families with children or people who love a pool day. But right now, the pool is under construction. Stormalong Bay is closed for refurbishment from January 2025 to June 2025 — that’s a pretty long time for a pool closure!

We’ve been keeping a close eye on the pool construction during that time. The water has been drained, and crews have been out and about nearly every day with scaffolding and equipment taking up much of the area. It’s a pretty central location at the resort, so the construction is hard to miss. And for those dining at Beaches & Cream Soda Shop? It’s right in front of your face!

Beaches & Cream, along with its walk-up ice cream window, is located right in front of the pool. That means that if you’re dining there these days, you’ll be subject to a decent amount of construction noise, and you’ll have to navigate the scaffolding maze surrounding the Beach Club sidewalks.

Also, for those dining outdoors or those sitting by a window, you no longer get the pretty sightline of the pool atmosphere. Instead, you’re dealing with scaffolding, scrim, and construction debris. This may not be a problem for everyone, but if you’re someone who cares a lot about atmosphere, it could affect your visit.

Ultimately, this doesn’t affect the quality of the food served at Beaches & Cream, so it’s still one of our favorite spots. If you don’t mind walking past the construction zone or possibly hearing the noise during the day, then you can keep that reservation for your next trip!

You may want to hold off on the Beaches & Cream reservation until the construction is done in June, and if you do, we’ll keep you in the loop about when it ends. If you’re looking for somewhere else to dine, check out our list of best Disney World restaurants for 2025 in the video below!
