If you are visiting Disney World soon, you are going to notice a lot of construction. While the construction will eventually bring new experiences to Disney World, it is a bit of an eyesore right now.

Construction walls are up in DinoLand U.S.A. as construction begins on Pueblo Esperanza, there is a giant yellow crane in Magic Kingdom as work is done on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and construction walls are up as Test Track gets a refresh, just to name a few. While not the prettiest sight to see, don’t worry, you will still have an amazing time at Disney World.
At the end of 2024, it was announced that a new Disney Vacation Club hotel would replace the previously announced Reflections — A Disney Lakeside Lodge Resort. The new hotel will be called Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge, and it is targeting an opening date of 2027. While it will be a Disney Vacation Club resort, even those who aren’t DVC members will be able to stay at this new hotel located next to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

We recently hopped on the boat to Disney’s Fort Wilderness from Magic Kingdom, and we were very impressed with how much progress they have made on the construction. When we last rode by at the end of January, they were just beginning to build the foundation for the new hotel. There were lots of cranes, and we could see the beginnings of the hotel.

When we rode by on April 16th, we noticed a lot of progress, and there was a lot to look at! The building structures have started to go vertical, and there is a lot of activity going on.

Some buildings have already reached five stories tall. They have been hard at work, and you can really see the hotel starting to take shape.

Currently, the buildings look like they are forming a horseshoe shape, with the opening facing the water. If you face the building from the water, there is also an offshoot building on the right side.

There are still plenty of cranes and construction workers. You can see and hear the construction from Disney’s Fort Wilderness, and it is beginning to tower over the campground’s buildings.

We still don’t have many details about what to expect at this new hotel. Disney has announced that it will be “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists.” In the concept art released by Disney, we have spotted Bambi, Thumper, and Flower, so it seems Disney will incorporate intellectual property into the hotel in some way.
