REVIEW: We Just Tried 5 (!!!) NEW Menu Items at the Cake Bake Shop in Disney World, and We’ve Never Felt So Fancy

The Cake Bake Shop was pretty controversial when it first opened, thanks to those high prices. (But the food is so GOOD it’s hard to stay mad.)

The Cake Bake Shop

Many people love the atmosphere and the quality of the dining experience here, and we think it’s a great spot for special occasions. There are a few new items available as part of the restaurant’s new Spring Menu, and we knew we had to stop in to try them out!

You can find The Cake Bake Shop at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort. There are two sides to the location: the restaurant side that requires an Advance Dining Reservation (hot tip: check OpenTable!), while the other side is the Bakery and no reservations are required.

There are new Spring Menu items on BOTH sides, but we grabbed a reservation to check out the bigger meals first! There are three new items in total, the first one being the Avocado Stack for $22. This is made with crumbled goat cheese, shallots, tomatoes, and balsamic pearls.
It’s also served with balsamic reduction, olive oil, and toasted French baguette.

Avocado Stack

This one’s got a great saucy, tangy taste to it, thanks to the pearls and the vinaigrette on the bottom. The avocado is super bright against the goat cheese, which we loved, and the tomatoes add a juiciness that had everything melting together in our mouths in the best way!

We loved it!

You can also find the 12 Layer Club Sandwich for $28, which is French ham, avocado, fresh tomato, crisp smoked bacon, oven-roasted turkey, baby spinach, Gruyère cheese, Maille Dijon mustard, and our homemade basil aioli. Ours was served with pommes frites.

The seasoned fries that are served with this are absolutely beautiful to just look at, and the presentation as a whole was gorgeous! The meat on the sandwich was salty in the best way, and paired with all the cheeses and the juicy tomatoes. Individually, all of these ingredients are fantastic on their own, but all together with that toasted white bread? It’s truly a sensation for your taste buds!

These fries are incredible!

The final new item on the restaurant side is the Caprese Sandwich for $26. This is made of freshly sliced tomatoes, our homemade walnut pesto, basil, and mozzarella on a toasted baguette and served with an arugula salad.

Caprese Sandwich

Now, this one was pretty middle of the road for us – it wasn’t incredible, but it also wasn’t bad by any means. We enjoyed that the majority of the greens were off to the side, so you could add them to your sandwich if you wanted or can keep them separate. The vinigiarette on the salad was our favorite part, as we could really taste the bright, tangy flavors!

We loved the vinaigrette!

Now it’s time to head over to the bakery side, where there are TWO new cake slices available! First up is the Neapolitan Cake Slice for $22! This is Valhona French chocolate cake, vanilla cake, and strawberry cake, filled and topped with strawberry buttercream and decorative silk flowers. Isn’t it PRETTY?!

Neapolitan Cake Slice

This was STUNNING to look at with all the sparkles, and we loved the light strawberry whipped cream frosting. The cake was incredibly moist, and we can’t stress enough how impressed we were with this cake. If you’re into sweeter flavors and can’t decide between chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry, this is the option for you!

Beautiful and delicious!

Last, but certainly not least, we have the Lemon Blueberry Cake Slice for $22! This is Lemon zest cake with fresh blueberries, filled with lemon curd and lemon buttercream and topped with lemon buttercream and fresh blueberries. Look at that beautiful slice of cake: WOW!

Lemon Blueberry Cake Slice

This is beautifully done! The whipped cream frosting is so light, and we love that the lemon flavor is a softer, sweeter lemon. The blueberries are so fresh and fall out of the cake, and partner beautifully with the more tart lemon flavor inside the actual cake. This definitely does have a tartness to it, so if you’re not interested in that, we’d say another option may be a better fit for you!

Just look at all those blueberries!

As you can see, we are BIG fans of the Spring Menu at the Cake Bake Shop! Give it a try — this menu is only around for a limited time.
