REVIEW: I Just Ate a FEAST in Disney World, and I Have A LOT to Tell You

Are you Team Beer or Team Wine? Let’s find out!

Team Wine or Team Beer?

Maria & Enzo’s has a Wine vs. Beer event to try drink pairings with their classic dishes, so you can decide whether wine or beer wins!

Maria & Enzo’s, located in Disney Springs, has authentic Italian food all set in a 1930s airport hangar. We love going for dinner, and we’re so excited to try their Wine vs. Beer event!

Our menu

We immediately dove into the food and tried the Panzerotti, which has brie, speck, and strawberry mostarda. The jam was sweet, and the panzerotti had a great crunch with speck inside. It was the perfect size to get us ready for the next course.

Panzerotti

It was served with the Cantalici Rosé for the wine. It was a beautiful shade of pink with hints of raspberry and strawberry, complemented by floral notes in the background. It reminded us of strawberry gelato! It was fresh and balanced with a bit of a sweet tang.

For the beer, we were served Birra Moretti L’Authentica, a malt with strong flavors of barley and grass. There was a touch of citrus in the back paired with bitterness. It was highly carbonated, too.

Then we wert to the Tortellacci Cacio e Pepe. This is a veal-filled house-made pasta with Parmigiano-Reggiano and black pepper. The sauce on top was creamy, and the pasta was perfectly cooked. The veal was soft and easy to chew, too!

It was paired with the Listra Super Tuscan, which was blackberry forward. It was balanced and had an acidic taste with a flavor that lingered in your mouth after drinking. We loved the bite of spice in it because it complemented the black pepper on the pasta so well.

The beer, Birra Moretti La Rossa, was malty and sweet. The malt flavor is tasted and almost caramelized, and it is dry but balanced.

Our next course was the Guancialino di Maiale, a red wine-braised pork cheek dish featuring fregola, mushrooms, cipollini onions, 12-year-old balsamic, and topped with Castelvetrano olive oil. The beer was so tender, you could cut it with a fork! It was soft and easy to chew with that beautiful pink color. It’s a very filling dish with the mushrooms and all the elements coming together.

The wine was the Tenuta Croce di Mezzo Brunello di Montalcino, which had a stunning aroma like a fragrant bouquet. We tasted the red berries, strawberries, and a bit of vanilla and spice. It was rich and paired so well with the braised pork.

Cipriani Carciofo was the matching beer, which is actually made with artichoke leaves. It had a balanced bitterness and sweetness that was clean and refreshing.

Our final course was the Coppetta di Gelato, which was a house-made peach and vanilla gelato, biscotti crunch, and whipped cream. Yum! The gelato was creamy, and we loved the crunch of the biscotti. We had to crack the piece underneath, which made it such a fun eating experience.

Coppetta di Gelato

The wine was the Terra Vizina Prosecco Brut, which had a strong fruit flavor of green apple and citrus. The acidity is medium to high, resulting in a more acidic style, but with a drier finish. There is just a touch of sweetness from the residual sugar, but it’s not overwhelming, which is great with an already sweet dessert. It was smooth and silky, just like gelato!

The final beer was a Forst Premium Lager, which had a sweet, harmonious blend of malt and hops. It was well-grounded, fragrant with florals, and light and fresh. We loved the bit of sweetness that came with it.
