A king is about to be crowned!
At least year’s D23 Ultimate Fan Event, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro announced that a new Lion King area was coming to the second gate at the Disneyland Paris Resort (the park, formerly known as Walt Disney Studios Paris is being renamed Disney Adventure World). According to D’Amaro at the time, the new area of the park “will be dedicated to the characters and stories from the film, including dining, shopping, and a chance to meet some favorite characters.”
In addition, the new land will feature a ride that will allow guests to “head down to the caverns beneath Pride Rock” where a new attraction will bring guests alongside “Simba’s journey from cub to king.” The initial concept art of the ride displayed at the time was a fume ride similar to the Splash Mountain/Tiana’s Bayou Adventure template. There was some consternation at the time over whether the ride would be based on the 1994 animated film or the 2019 “live-action” adaptation, but Disney later confirmed the former.
During Disney’s 2025 Annual Shareholder Meeting, Disney resale a closer look at a model for the attraction. This physical model reaffirmed that the ride will be a similar if not identical layout to the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure flume rides.
The iconic outcropping from the top of Pride Rock is a distinct physical feature of the mountain….
…very similar to the version seen in the film.
In fact, there even looks to be a statue or animatronic (Simba? Mufasa?) permanently in place on the ledge.
The entire project looks to be a massive scale, by far the largest Lion King installation in any Disney park yet built.

I hope the Lion King splash pride rock will be better than Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Because I went on it at Disneyland and it was a big letdown due to the absence of Dr facilier, Lawrence, spoonbill birds, lady butterflies Reggie Darnell two fingers and friends on the other side being excluded from the ride. The Lion King ride better feature songs including be prepared, I just can’t wait to be king, hakuna matata, can you feel the love tonight. I also want scar and the hyenas to be featured in the ride. Otherwise I’ll be disappointed like I was with the underwhelming Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Disneyland ride. I hope the Lion King splash rock will be better than what Tiana’s Bayou Adventure gave us.
It would be great if it came to Disney World instead of just Disney Land
