The Port Orleans Resort is one of the most intricately themed hotels on Walt Disney World property, and arguably the one with the most interesting history. Originally two separate properties that opened in the early 1990s — the Port Orleans Resort and the Dixie Landings Resort respectively — the two were united under the Port Orleans banner in 1997, with the original resort rechristened as Port Orleans French Quarter and Port Orleans Riverside respectively.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, given their theming to one of America’s most diverse culinary capitals, the Port Orleans Resort complex features a litany of dining options including table service, restaurants, quick service food courts, and bars & lounges. However, even with all of these food options, there’s one quintessential New Orleans combo we can’t pass up, and would heavily recommend.
Once you’re inside the Port Orleans French Quarter portion of the resort, make your way to the Scat Cat’s Club – Café and fire up an order of their Mickey-Shaped Beignets.
Scat Cat's Club Cafe Restaurant
Services: Take Out or Walk-up Window
This delicious treat of deep-fried dough covered in powdered sugar — a trademark of both the real New Orleans and any Disney interpretation of the city since they were first sold at Disneyland’s New Orleans Square — comes in a 3-piece order for $7.99 or a 6-piece order for $12.99. Either option comes with a choice of dipping sauce.

After you’ve picked up your beignets, head next door to the Scat Cat’s Club – Lounge.
Scat Cat's Club Lounge Restaurant
Services: Bar/Lounge
Themed to a New Orleans jazz club, this lounge allows you to “tap your toes to some swingin’ jazz and enjoy a full-service bar featuring Southern-inspired specialty cocktails, craft beer and appetizers.”

Our recommended order here: The Southern Hurricane. This $15.50 cocktail features Bayou Silver Rum, Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, orange, pineapple, and lime Juices with grenadine and a float of Myers’s Dark Rum.

You’d be hard-pressed a more authentically and deliciously New Orleans than enjoying some beignets and a Hurricane outside of taking a trip to the Big Easy itself. Stay tuned to AllEars for more exploration of Disney World’s best experiences.
