You'll NEVER Guess Where We Found Star Wars Hotel Merch

While Disney’s Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel has been closed for well over a year now, it’s officially the end of an era as Disney has announced their plans for the former space.

And, if you thought hearing that the Star Wars hotel would be turned into offices was the oddest thing you’d hear all week — just wait until you see where Fry Bucket stumbled upon Star Wars hotel MERCH!

Fry Bucket headed to check out the two different Disney exhibits that are currently happening at the Arlington Museum of Art in Texas, but she definitely wasn’t expecting to find Star Wars hotel merchandise there! The museum gift shop featured a few Disney souvenirs like autograph books and Mickey ears… and this training shield from the Galactic Starcruiser!

Well, we certainly weren’t expecting this Halcyon Starcruiser training shield to pop up in Arlington, Texas, but hey — this just goes to show you never know where you might stumble upon some Disney magic! Unfortunately, the fate of the Star Wars hotel is less magical, as Disney will be using the space for Imagineering offices.

The hotel opened on March 1st, 2022, and just about a year later, it took its last voyage in September of 2023. It has since sat abandoned, and Disney fans hoped that the hotel could be brought back in some form of day excursions or that Disney would adjust the prices to be a bit more budget-friendly.

After its closure, Disney Parks and Experiences chairperson Josh D’Amaro chalked that the Star Wars hotel’s main fault was due to the high ticket price per voyage but said that it was still a learning opportunity for the company.
