“I Don’t Think It’ll Be Worth It” — The REAL Reason Disney Adults Are Skipping Disney World in 2025

In some ways, it always feels like it’s the time to “start planning your Disney World trip for next year,” right?

I mean, it makes sense. Vacationing at Disney World isn’t exactly the cheapest thing to do. There aren’t a lot of, shall-we-say, budget-friendly options when it comes to things like your accommodations and ways to skip the lines, shoot…or even just getting your pictures. That’s what got our minds going down the rabbit hole of whether you were already booking out your 2025 Disney World trip. So we thought we’d reach out to you and get your takes.

We reached out to our followers on Facebook and Instagram to ask: “Are you booking a 2025 Disney World trip? Why or why not?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments!

What do you think?

While the majority of you responded in the affirmative, that you’re already planning their 2025 Disney trips, a few of you have serious reservations. Let’s go over some of your top responses.

Those Who Just Can’t Stay Away

First, let’s address the obvious: most of you are still going to Disney World in 2025. The excitement is real, and for many of you, it’s about much more than just the parks.

Bucket List Trips and Long-Awaited Reunions

For example, our reader Jennifer shared, “Already booked for August and waiting a few more weeks for my 11 month window so I can book for Christmas.” Jennifer’s response highlights a trend we saw a lot in the comments – people planning not just one, but multiple trips.

For others, Disney trips are about reconnecting with loved ones. Michelle explained, “Heck yes with my bestie!!!! We haven’t seen each other in over 7 years! (I think???? 🤔).” These trips aren’t just vacations; they’re moments of celebration and reunion, and for many, that justifies the cost.

Celebrations, Special Events, and Milestones

Some of you mentioned specific events as the reason for booking. For example, Kelley shared, “We are doing two next year (for now). One girl’s trip in February and one in July to celebrate my granddaughter’s 5th birthday!” Meanwhile, Allyson revealed her excitement about an upcoming runDisney event: “Already booked – I’m just trying super hard to get in to the runDisney Princess 5k which is during my trip.”

For those of you like Kelley and Allyson, Disney World trips are all about creating unforgettable memories tied to special moments.

Loyalty to the Magic

For a bunch of you, Disney World still remains your “happy place” no matter what. Jenna summed it up perfectly, saying, “Booked for July DW. I go every summer and sometimes December too. It’s still my happy place!”

But What About the Holdouts?

While the majority of you have been eagerly planning your trips, a small but significant number have made the tough decision to skip Disney World in 2025.

Accessibility Changes Are a Dealbreaker

Several of you expressed frustration with recent changes to Disney’s Disability Access Service (DAS). This service, which helps disabled guests navigate the parks, has undergone adjustments that some feel make it less accommodating.

Sarah shared, “No. With the changes to DAS we likely won’t qualify now and it’s too expensive to not enjoy. Would rather go to other parks which enable us to enjoy within our needs.” Similarly, Emily explained, “Nah. I’m physically disabled and depend on DAS. Now that it’s been gutted, I won’t be able to do anything. So why spend all that money?”

Comments like this highlight a serious issue for Disney: accessibility (and there were quite a few comments like this from you). For disabled guests who depend on services like DAS, these changes are more than an inconvenience – they’re a barrier to the magic.

Budget and Value Concerns

Price is always a factor, but some of you feel that Disney World isn’t delivering the same value it once did. Senia shared, “Most likely not. Had an AP this year but with all of the closures I personally don’t think it will be worth it.”

Follow the yellow signs!

Closures, whether for maintenance or re-imaginings, can dampen the experience, especially when ticket prices and travel costs remain high.

Exploring Alternatives

For some, skipping Disney World doesn’t mean skipping Disney entirely. Michelle said, “Was there in May now I have to save money for 2026 when I go on a Disney Cruise and spend a few days at Disney World before and after.”

Disney Treasure

Others, like Beth, are looking outside the Disney bubble: “Nope, going to Universal December 2025. I don’t think I will be going back to Disney for a while.”

  1. Probably not. We live in AZ and it’s quite the trip. We are 8 hours from DIsneyland and went in May and if we do any Disney exoerience, it would be to CA. Much less crowded and seemed more relaxing than WDW

  2. We were at WDW last week. After a trip to DL in September 2023 and trips to WDW in January and December 2024, we will likely take a year or maybe 2 off from Disney. The construction plans just help make it seem like a good time for a break too.

  3. No. I’ve only been to WDW once, about 10 years ago, and I see no reason to go back. It’s too big, and too competitive on Lightening Lane times. I live on the west coast and do visit Disneyland 5-6 times per year, as a passholder. I’m sure I’ll go multiple times in 2025.

  4. Yes, I will be booking a Disney World trip hopefully soon. I have to wait until I get my settlement for my case and then I will be there 3 weeks later!!!

  5. YES, WE WILL BE BACK IN MAY 2025 AS WE HAVE FOR HAVE FOR MANY YEARS AS A FAMILY, YES IS DOES COST
BUT EVERYTHING YOU DO DOES BUT WE ENJOY IT.

    1. After 30 visits, this past October the lines were terrible. The magic is long gone. We have decided it’s not fun anymore. We will never go back. So much has changed all the perks are gone. Parks and hotel are not as clean, yet they raise prices. Good bye Mickey.
