Something HUGE is happening at Universal Orlando Resort on May 22nd, 2025.
Epic Universe, Universal Orlando’s third theme park, will finally be open to the public. Now, we’ve already seen SO many details about all five themed lands the new park will introduce to the world, and we’ve even learned more about the three new hotels Universal is building for the new park. There are a few things, though, that we think have been ignored — both good and bad — when it comes to Epic Universe, though.
If you’re looking for a travel agent to help with your vacation, we recommend our friends at Mouse Fan Travel. They’re experts in the field with over 20 years of vacation planning experience, and they can help take a bunch of the stress out of the entire booking process for you!
The Good
Flying dragons
Let’s start with the good things we don’t hear enough about like the fact that dragons that will be flying over How to Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk. Yes, dragons will be flying overhead when you visit this land.
This isn’t even something Universal has even mentioned much, but it’s on the Epic Universe website listed as “Vikings in the Village and Dragons in the Sky” with the description saying, “You may even catch a glimpse of dragons flying high above the village.” Although you may have read about this, it’s certainly something that isn’t hyped enough.
A hotel INSIDE the park
Another thing that we don’t think is hyped enough is that the Universal Helios Grand Hotel will be INSIDE Epic Universe. That means that you’ll be within the Epic Universe bubble and will be able to walk directly into Epic Universe from your hotel room if you stay there.
It also means that the hotel’s lobby will have floor-to-ceiling windows with a view of Celestial Park, the original themed land being created for Epic Universe.
The Not So Good
Transportation
There are also a couple of things that aren’t really being talked about that you might not like about Epic Universe. The first is transportation. If you don’t have a car, you’ll have to get to Epic Universe via shuttle bus from one of Universal’s hotels or one of Universal’s other theme parks.
This could be inconvenient for some visitors because Epic Universe is located about 15 minutes from the rest of Universal. If you’re a midday break kind of theme park person, this could end up being a big hassle traveling back and forth to the new park.
You’re only allowed to visit once
When Epic Universe first opens, visitors will only be allowed to visit the park once during their Universal Orlando trip. Now, given how big Epic Universe is, one day will probably not be enough time to see and do everything you want there, so that’s the downside of booking a trip shortly after it opens.
We don’t expect this to always be the case with Universal, but we do expect this rule to be in place for a while until the new park’s popularity wanes a bit — and that’s probably going to be a long wait.
If you are planning a trip to Epic Universe in 2025, you’ll need to consider everything here and decide if it’s worth it to be among the first to visit the new theme park.
