I Spotted 14 (!!) Secrets Hidden in Disney’s NEW Haunted Mansion Parlor!

We’re finally aboard Disney Cruise Line‘s newest ship, the Disney Treasure, for its inaugural voyage, and we couldn’t be more excited!

I got to see the ship for the first time right after its Christening in New York City a few weeks ago, where I saw the majority of the ship, but it was such a quick tour I didn’t get to really take in all the details. Now that we’re back on board, I’m determined to find some of the hidden details and secrets these new offerings are hiding! The spot highest on my list was the incredible Haunted Mansion Parlor, exclusive to the Disney Treasure, and you won’t believe all the amazing secrets there are to discover here!

To start, I spent a TON of time in the iconic Haunted Mansion Chair that you can find in one corner of the room. And what I found is that there are speakers behind the chair! I couldn’t see them anywhere else in the room, and these are hidden very well in the wall.

Emma in the chair! (Can you see the speakers?)

Very very occasionally, you can hear ghostly conversations or whispers if you are sitting in or are very close to the chair. I heard a few, including one where it sounded like one ghost said that something smells fishy and another replied with “shhh they’ll hear you!” When the ghost host first says the ghosts are coming out, you can hear whispers saying “everyone stick together” and “the party is about to begin!” I also heard one ghost joke that everyone can see right through him, which I enjoyed thoroughly.

The hidden speakers!

This one’s small, but I enjoyed the homage to the iconic HatBox Ghost — there’s a hatbox on the table next to the Haunted Mansion chair. Look quickly and you’ll miss it, so keep your eyes peeled!

There’s a shelf that has sheet music on it, and it also has a lot of fun details. The sheet music is usually blank unless the chorus of Grim Grinning Ghosts is playing — then it comes to life and illuminates with a green light that follows the lyrics so you can see the notes and lyrics!

Pay close attention to the sheet music!

The same shelf is also home to Constance’s Hatchet and what looks like her handwritten wedding vows. The vow says “Until death do us….” and it’s trailed off and crossed out. When illuminated by blacklight, the note reads “Til Death Do Us Part” in scary handwriting across the whole thing!

Wedding vows!

When the Ghost Host voice fully sings Grim Grinning Ghosts, his voice comes out of the Captain portrait — he sings it, and his mouth moves along! Then when it switches to a woman’s voice, that’s the Medusa portrait singing, and her mouth moves as well. It’s crazy cool, and I personally really enjoyed it.

Pay close attention to the portraits!

Speaking of the portraits, even when they’re stationary, they may subtly move. So don’t be alarmed if you blink and it looks like it’s shifted!

Seriously, they’re amazing

All of the portraits are also new characters to the Treasure. If they look familiar though, that’s because they may be based on Haunted Mansion characters. However, they all have different demises than the ones seen at the iconic attraction!

Lounge with some ghosts

The full show in the Haunted Mansion Parlor is 30 minutes long, but the Cast Members recommend spending 45 minutes in the lounge. This is for a few different reasons but especially because the show has differences every time it happens so you might notice new surprises!

One of those differences come in the form of different sound effects — there are different ones you can hear depending on where you are in the room! Disney wanted the experience to be varied enough to keep passengers interested for a 7-nighter, and I definitely think this is a great way to do it.

As you look at details, listen for the sound effects!

When you take a look out the windows, you’ll notice it doesn’t reflect what’s happening outside. That’s because these are faux portholes with thunderstorms outside of them that light up when lightning strikes!

The “portholes” always have thunderstorms going on outside

The taps you see in the lounge are Constance’s hands with MULTIPLE different wedding rings and a gold tap that looks like the wood paneling from the ride. What a clever detail!

Pay close attention to the taps!

And lastly, the haunted fish tank, which is impossible to miss in the lounge, is something Disney has wanted to bring to life since the 1960s! I imagine it was originally conceived then and just hasn’t been used until now, which is absolutely wild to think about!
