Something new is on the BoardWalk at Disney World!

It has been a long time coming, but today, we got to attend a soft opening of The Cake Bake Shop. This new addition, which replaced the ESPN Club, is a table service restaurant and bakery. While no opening date has been announced, we had the chance to try some of the treats that will be available at the bakery once it opens.
We tried five different treats ahead of The Cake Bake Shop’s grand opening, and here is what we thought.

The ambiance is absolutely beautiful, and our reporter even called it “a special gift to Disney World.” However, anyone who eats here should keep in mind that most items come with a hefty price tag. This isn’t necessarily for the everyday Disney parkgoer, but more for those celebrating a special occasion.

To start, we got the Unicorn Hot Chocolate, which was $11.99 for a small. It is so colorful, and we think kids would love it; I mean, we loved it and thought it was divine. It is made with hot chocolate, but they use strawberry milk instead. We will say the icing gave it a bit of an artificial strawberry flavor. Regardless, the color was amazing and had lovely pink pastels.

While this drink is basic, we wish we had gotten a large because it was so easy to drink and because it is really that good. It is finished off with fun sprinkles and marshmallows.

Next, we tried the Magic Bar , which cost $13.99. We found this bar actually to be magical, which makes its name fitting. Think of it as a grown-up version of a cookie cake. If you love cookie cake, then this bar is for you!

There is a cookie layer at the bottom; the center has icing that tastes like carrot cake icing—kind of like cream cheese but with more of a pecan flavor. This treat was warm and gooey and had chunks of chocolate chips and pecans in the center layer. There are also a few chopped-up carrots, which is why it reminded us of carrot cake.

It is topped with toasted coconut, which, of course, has edible glitter. While it does have a bit of a price tag, this treat is worth the price. It is hard to tell from the picture, but it is a pretty big shareable bar, and we only ate half of it at first.

We then tried the Chocolate Truffle, which was $6. There are two different versions, and we tried the milk chocolate, peanut butter, and raspberry truffle.

When we tried ours, we did not taste much peanut butter, but it could have been hidden in the ganache since it is so thick, kind of like a nougat that gives it a resistant pull on the inside. It was chewy, rich, and flavorful. We enjoyed the raspberry on top because that is really what helped bring out that fruity flavor, and it did not taste artificial. We were surprised at how much the raspberry flavor came through since there was so much chocolate.

We then tried the Marie Antoinette for $14.99. This is a giant macaron, and we thought of it as a rose inside a dessert. There is buttercream icing swirled inside, and it has fresh raspberries.

The inside is filled with raspberry jam. The cookie part of the macaron itself tasted like a rose, and it was very light. Because this dessert is so delicate and light, it crumbles easily.

Considering this and the Magic Bar’s price points, we would choose the Magic Bar over the Marie Antoinette. We will say that one of the perks of the Marie Antoinette is that it is a very colorful and Instagramable treat.

To finish our time at The Cake Bake Shop, we tried the Millionaire’s Cake Slice for $22.99. We know that this is a lot for a slice of cake, and we had our doubts, but this slice of cake turned us into believers.

This chocolate cake reminded us of a Devil’s Food cake. There are three layers of cake, followed by layers of chocolate ganache, buttercream, icing, caramel, and breadcrumbs. The outside of the cake has a thin layer of milk chocolate with chocolate drizzle and edible glitter.

We can’t believe we are saying this, but Gideon’s cakes have huge competition now, and we are big fans of the cakes at Gideon’s Bakehouse. Regarding the price, we will say that this treat may be better for a special occasion, but it was so much fun. To compare, a slice of cake at Gideon’s costs $9.

All of our goodies were packaged in a box or pouch, which made it nice to transport them on the go. Although they are packaged, we would recommend snagging these treats at the end of the night as this is not something you want to carry around the parks with you. Overall, we were really impressed with everything we tried here, but if we could only pick two treats to get, it would be the Magic Bar and Chocolate Truffle.

We can’t wait for The Cake Bake Shop to open officially, so make sure to stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest updates!
