Disney Springs looks a bit different…
The area of Disney World currently known as Disney Springs has been one of near-constant change since it opened five decades ago. Over that time, the area has been known as Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village, Walt Disney World Village, Disney Village Marketplace, and Downtown Disney, and gained and lost iconic establishments like Pleasure Island and DisneyQuest. In recent weeks, a shop that dates back nearly a decade to Disney Springs’ opening has closed!
In August of 2024, Sanuk — a funky footwear and shoe store — closed its doors. The shop was essentially a Disney Springs “lifer”, having opened with the latest renovation of the shopping complex back in 2015.
The unique footwear shop’s official description read, “Discover an innovative men’s, women’s and kids’ footwear line that embodies laid-back lifestyles! Head on in for boots, flip flops, sandals, shoes, sidewalk surfers, slippers and yoga slings sure to keep the good vibes running high. Sanuk’s creative collection is crafted from a variety of non-traditional materials—including Astro Turf, faux shearling and yoga mats—for the ultimate in comfy fun. Taking surfers, artists, yogis and generations of smile-seekers to their happy place since 1997, this one-stop shop also carries accessories and other perfectly chill must-haves for free spirits of any age.”
On our most recent trip to Disney Springs, we found the storefront vacant, with the Sanuk signage removed. There was also a Sanuk location at the Disneyland Resort, which opened in 2011, replacing Basin. That outpost was rebranded as California Sole in 2020, and closed in 2024.
Sanuk, one of the oldest tenants in Disney Springs’ current incarnation, recently closed its doors, marking the end of an era for the Disney World shopping complex. Stay tuned to AllEars for further Disney World closure updates.

Absolutely sad. It’s my absolute go to store every time I come to Disney. Best shoes ever to walk around Disney parks.
