We’ve got some big news about one of the most beloved hotels in Disney World!
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort sits along the Monorail line right by Magic Kingdom and it’s seen some changes over the years! New Moana-themed rooms debuted in 2021 but now, Disney is adding an entire tower to the resort. The Island Tower, which features Disney Vacation Club rooms, is set to open on December 17th, 2024, and we’ve got a HUGE update!
We’ve been keeping an eye on construction for a while at the new tower. Several months ago, we noticed a building that looked like it could be a restaurant.
Then at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, we got to see concept art for the new restaurant.
Now, Disney has confirmed that a new restaurant named Wailulu Bar & Grill is coming to the Island Tower!
This is a “casual walk-up pool bar and grill” with an all-day menu for lunch and dinner. In the morning, specialty coffee and pastries will be available on-the-go for breakfast. Disney said they will be sharing more in the future — we can’t wait to see the full menu!
The best part might just be the views. The restaurant has panoramic views of Seven Seas Lagoon and Cinderella’s Castle at Magic Kingdom. It doesn’t get much better than that!

They should make a Moana/water-themed restaurant. Diners sit in ‘boats’ on the edge of the lagoon. Enjoy the waterfront views and fireworks.
I was hoping there would also be a new, sit-down restaurant with wait staff. Quick service is fine, but it would sure be nice to have a guaranteed-reservation table for dinner.
