We’ve been following along with all the recent Epic Universe land and attraction announcements and our anticipation for the new theme park has only grown. It’s not just the theme park news that has us excited though — Universal just released some updates about two new hotels opening next to Epic Universe and we can’t wait to share them with you!

Last week, Universal Orlando Resort released a podcast detailing two new hotels coming to Universal in 2025: Universal Stella Nova Resort and Universal Terra Luna Resort.

Co-owned and operated by Loews Hotels & Co., Stella Nova Resort and Terra Luna Resort will each feature 750 new guest rooms and are set to open early next year, with Stella Nova opening on January 21st, 2025, and Terra Luna opening on March 25th, 2025.

According to an official statement, “Universal Stella Nova Resort is inspired by distant galaxies, new stars, and mysterious black holes…” while “…Terra Luna Resort is inspired by the massive and diverse planetary elements of the universe.”

In the Discover Universal Podcast, we learned about some shared characteristics of the hotels.

Podcast hosts Dylan and Cassie spoke with Jessica Iaconis, assistant director of facility design, and Russ Dagon, senior vice president of resort development, about the new hotels.

When asked about the pools, Dagon said, “The pools are relatively simple but beautiful resort-style pools. There’s no real space inspiration for our pools. It’s straightforward Florida.” Both Dagon and Iaconis added that in polls, guests want beach-themed pools, which is why so many of their other resorts have that theme.

When it comes to dining, both resorts will feature three quick-service restaurants, a grab-and-go market, a lobby bar, and a pool bar.

The food at these resorts will be akin to other Universal hotels and the chefs will come up with special menus just as they do at the other hotel restaurants.

During the podcast, it was confirmed that both resorts will have complimentary shuttle bus service to the rest of the Universal Orlando Resort, including Universal’s Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios Florida, and Epic Universe.

The Universal Orlando website also lists Universal’s Volcano Bay and Universal CityWalk as part of that service.

An interesting topic brought up during the podcast was that there are 144,000 tiles on the exterior of each hotel, each placed by hand.

“Our first day we put up nine and we got a little scared,” said Dagon. Iaconis and Dagon discussed the fear of lagging behind and they stressed making the tiles a building priority.

Other Easter eggs mentioned include exterior lighting strategically designed to look like constellations, a Celestial Park constellation on one of the exteriors, and window shapes to make you feel like you’re in a spaceship looking out to the rest of Florida that add to the rooms’ futuristic, yet comfortable vibes.
