We Just Stumbled Across a NEW Rule at a Disney World Hotel

There’s a NEW rule at Disney World.

A new rule has come to Caribbean Beach

Walt Disney World hotel pools have technically always been exclusive to guests staying at that specific resort. However, many have often attempted to sidestep those rules and take advantage of pools at a different resort than their own (if they’re even staying at one at all). Recently, Disney has introduced a new system to reduce abuse at one of their most popular moderate resort pools.

The Caribbean Beach Resort’s Fuentes del Morro Pool is described by Disney as a “zero-entry pirate’s paradise, themed like a colonial Spanish fortress. Swashbuckling adventurers can zip by on one of 2 waterslides—including one measuring 102 feet long—and feel the spray of man-of-war-cannons.” The pool area also includes a children’s play area and a 12-person spa.

And now, it requires a WRISTBAND to access.

In recent weeks, Disney has been requiring Caribbean Beach Resort guests to check in with a cast member who will confirm their reservation and the amount of people on it. Once everything checks out, they’ll receive a wristband (think the plastic type used at other hotels and events like concerts or etc.) in order to use the Fuentes del Morro Pool. The process is similar to one that’s already in place at the Yacht and Beach Resorts’ Stormalong Bay pool complex.

It’s unclear as of this time whether this is a temporary adjustment — perhaps as a way to manage crowd flow at the Fuentes del Morro pool while Caribbean Beach’s Barbados leisure pool is under refurbishment — or a permanent addition to the resort.

As of now, the wristband requirement doesn’t seem to be expanding to other resorts on Disney World property. For example, we specifically checked with the front desk at Pop Century and were told that there were currently “no plans” to require wristbands to access the resort’s pools. That said, it wouldn’t surprise us if the program expanded, as Disney has often introduced changes like this at one park/attraction/hotel before expanding outward.

  1. It’s not a new rule, but instead one that is being enforced. While not straight up theft if you are using a pool at a different resort then you are stealing something you did not pay for. This is different from going to a resort to look at it, purchase souvenirs, or eat.

  2. As someone who will be staying at the Carribean beach I don’t have a problem with the wrist bands I think it will lessen the crowd at the pool

  3. Storm Along Bay pool at Yacht and Beach Club has required verification of reservation and wristbands for years.
