Okay, so it’s no secret that we are addicted to Disney World fast food, aka quick service restaurants. Those dining spots sometimes offer not only the best bang for your buck but also some of our favorite meals.
We’re talking Corndog Nuggets from Casey’s Corner in Magic Kingdom, Cheeseburger Pods from Satu’li Canteen in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and yes, even those Disney fries you can find almost everywhere. We eat at quick service locations a lot, and although we love them, we still have some issues with those restaurants we need to discuss.
So yes, we’re going to fill you in on the issues we still have with Disney World’s quick-service locations.
Some still don’t offer Mobile Order
Mobile Order has become almost standard in Disney World, save for some locations where it just hasn’t been implemented yet. There are currently 26 restaurants in Disney World that don’t use Mobile Order and we don’t understand why. Mobile Order makes things convenient not just for us, but for the restaurant, too.
This is even more annoying in EPCOT because almost every quick-service location in World Showcase is still living in the pre-Mobile Order era.
Little to No Seating
What is up with all the quick-service restaurants that don’t offer places to sit and enjoy our meal? Just put a few extra tables in front with some umbrellas, and we’ll be happy. This is also a case where EPCOT is the biggest offender: it seems like MOST of EPCOT’s quick-service restaurants want us to eat somewhere else. Yes, Disney puts out some extra standing tables during festivals, but we would much rather have a place to sit down that’s a little shaded.
We know we’ve spent way too much time in EPCOT sitting on a curb or at a trash can just to eat.
The Missing Topping Bar
Let’s take a look back at early 2020 when we could visit Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn and Cafe and order nachos or tacos and then visit the toppings bar where we could choose from a variety of condiments, vegetables, and other goodies to put on our toppings.
Well, Disney World closed later in 2020, and then reopened, and we haven’t seen the toppings bar since. That was literally the best part of eating at Pecos Bill, and we still miss it.
People holding tables
As we mentioned, many quick service locations don’t have a lot of seating, so it’s even more frustrating when a group holds a table while their party is still ordering their food. Meanwhile, we’ve got our tray of food and nowhere to sit.
We’ll also say that it’s also annoying when you’re trying to find a place to sit and people remain at their tables long after they’ve finished their meal.
Having to wait for a free cup of water
Yes, you can get a free cup of iced water at Disney World, but to do so, you have to stand in the same line as those ordering food, and that just ends up wasting everyone’s time.
It would make more sense to either have a separate line or counter just for water or have water dispensers and cups available that we could use ourselves.
Not being able to order free water on Mobile Order
Another problem we have with mobile order is that it doesn’t allow you to order free water with your food. Instead, you have to ask for the free water when you get to the counter to pick up your mobile order.
Again, if it were in the app, maybe something right before you checkout as an option to “Add free cup of water,” it would save a lot of time for us and for Cast Members.
So as you can see, there are certainly some areas of improvement that Disney World could focus on with its quick service dining spots.
