We got to do something pretty incredible recently: we got a sneak peek of the new DreamWorks Land coming to Universal Orlando.

This new land will open on June 14th, but we were thrilled to attend a preview of DreamWorks Land to check it all out, including Shrek’s infamous (or iconic, depending on your thoughts) swamp. We were even able to sample some of the food to be offered in the area, like a pretzel that looks like Shrek’s head.
Meet theĀ Shrek-Zel, which is served withĀ Green Cheese. We’ll just get right into it. The pretzel is spongier and softer than what we’re used to with Disney pretzels, but it’s nothing special except that it’s trying to look like Shrek. The design is cute, but you can tell it’s difficult to get his facial details perfect on a large pretzel. Ours was served cold, but we think they’ll be served warm once the land opens.

The green cheese, though. Well, if you can imagine what it tastes like based on its appearance, you would probably be close. It’s cold, green “plastic cheese,”Ā and it tastes just about how you would expect. We were not fans. For the record, the cheese isn’t actually plastic, but it certainly reminds us of that ultra-processed cheese you may see in a can at your local grocery store. We love a good cheese dipping sauce, but the lack of flavor and off-putting color just didn’t quite work for us.

We’re sure kids are going to love this snack, though. It’s unique, so we expect to see a ton of children running around with these pretzels when DreamWorks Land opens on June 14th. Maybe the iconic Mickey Pretzel has some NEW competition…

We’ll be covering everything new coming to Universal Orlando, including Epic Universe, so be sure to check back with AllEars again soon for more.
