Boma is a bit of an underrated restaurant in Disney World.

It’s located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and has an upbeat atmosphere with animals just outside on the savanna while you dine on a buffet-style breakfast or dinner. This is, in fact, one of our favorite buffets in all of Disney World, and if you’re heading there for breakfast, these are the two items you NEED to try!
Eat This
For our sweet breakfast fans out there, we cannot recommend the Sticky Buns enough!

These are, for lack of a better word, absolutely divine. They’re warm, gooey, and have a hint of crunch with those nuts on top. Plus, pour the vanilla sauce (that’s normally meant for the bread pudding) all over one, and you’ve got a perfect concoction.

And for those who prefer a more savory option, we recommend the Bobotie. This is available for both breakfast and dinner, and it’s a South African casserole that’s made with ground beef (we’ve also seen it made with different meats).

Not only is it delicious, but it’s also hearty and filling with protein that will last you quite a while. It may look like something you’ve never had before, and that can be a little scary, but we promise, it’s worth it.

Not That
Since there are SO many options on the buffet, we’re also gonna go over some menu items you might want to skip. You really can’t go wrong with anything at Boma, but here are some things we wouldn’t pick up — we only have so much room in our stomachs after all!
The first is Pap! This is a creamy white cornmeal dish similar to grits. We find ourselves pairing it with other dishes on the plate including Chakalaka (a South African tomato stew which we DO recommend), but it’s usually a skip for us.

Remember the Sticky Buns we mentioned earlier? These Cinnamon Rolls pictured below are pretty good, but they can’t compare to the beloved Sticky Buns.

We also typically skip the Parfait! This is a nice lighter option if that’s what you’re looking for, but overall there are better dishes to fill that void. Grab a watermelon slice with mint-pistachio crumbs instead for something new!

There are so many incredible options to choose from at Boma, and what’s even better is that they have dishes to satisfy both the picky and adventurous eaters! Everyone in your party will find something they enjoy.
Here’s why staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge is TOTALLY worth it!
