Is there anything more relaxing than taking a midday break from the Disney World theme parks and hitting the pool?
Or maybe it’s more your style to have a resort day where you just spend time at your hotel hanging out at the pool and enjoying some leisure time. It is supposed to be a vacation, after all. Well, if you do like hitting the pools at Disney World, you might be surprised when you realize that the BEST pool might not be the one you think.
Generally, when we’re talking about Disney World pools, the one that gets mentioned the most is Stormalong Bay, which is shared by Disney’s Beach Club and Yacht Club Resorts. We know how much our readers love this pool because it has a lot going on for it. It has a sand bottom, a lazy river, three whirlpool spas, and a 230-foot-long water slide. It’s a destination in and of itself.
Stormalong Bay is practically its own mini-water park. Did we mention there’s a kid’s pool, too, along with a sunning deck? Yeah, it’s got that.
However, we’re going to argue that it’s NOT the best pool in Disney World. Why? Because we’re giving that honor to the Lava Pool at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
Lava Pool rivals Stormalong Bay in almost every way. It has a towering volcano, a waterfall, and a 142-foot-long waterslide. You can just walk on in, too, because it has a zero-depth entry and exit. It’s pretty much everything you’d want in a vacation resort pool.
Although the volcano is impressive, there are other things about this pool to love. There’s an EPIC tiki-themed splash pad for the kiddos, too. But here’s another thing that makes it the best: you can get views of Magic Kingdom and Cinderella Castle from this pool. Yep, you can swim and watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks night, if you want! How’s that for EXTRA?
But wait — there’s more! Because you not only get a great view, but you’re also only a few steps away from Pineapple Lanai, where you can get a Dole Whip. What’s better than relaxing by the pool with a Dole Whip in hand? NOTHING.
That’s not the only food you can get at Lava Pool, though. Barefoot Pool Bar offers up some tasty food like Sashimi, Fish Tacos, Black Pepper-Parmesan Chicken Wings, and more. Plus you can’t beat those cocktails available here.
So, basically, Lava Pool has everything — a fun pool great for the whole family, a fantastic view, and great food. So if you’re thinking about booking a Disney World resort with the PERFECT pool for your group, be sure to think about staying at the Polynesian Village Resort.
