We’re attending the first night of this special Halloween event in 2023 and taking you along with us for the adventure so come with us to see what it’s like!

Entering

We made our way over to Disney California Adventure Park on September 5th for the first night of Oogie Boogie Bash in 2023. At the entrance to the park, you’ll find decor celebrating this special event.

Oogie Boogie towers over all the guests!

Remember that this is a separately ticketed event and tickets are now sold out. The party will take place on select nights in September and October 2023.

Those with a ticket are able to enter the park up to 3 hours before the official event begins. The event then officially starts at 6PM and then lasts for 5 hours.

Crowds

In terms of the crowd levels, we noticed a lot of people on this sold out night!

A sold-out crowd!

This is just the line to get through security.

Keep in mind that this is a sold-out event but only a limited number of tickets are sold for each night.

Tonight’s event was sold out!

There was quite a line to get in when we entered at 3PM.

Later in the night, we continued to see large crowds. Before you entered Pixar Pier it wasn’t too bad.

But by the time you were actually at Pixar Pier it was pretty busy.

Treat Trails

One of the MAJOR highlights of Oogie Boogie Bash are the immersive treat trails. You’ll be able to walk through these to grab your candy (including M&M’S, SKITTLES, SNICKERS and more). But the real key here is that along each trail you’ll typically find a sinister Disney villain interacting with guests from their thrones!

Another thing you’ll want to make time for at this event is the Frightfully Fun Parade, a cavalcade starring Mickey, Minnie, and some iconic Disney villains!

Then we saw Mickey and Minnie is their adorable Halloween outfits!

Then we kept an eye out for characters from The Nightmare Before Christmas, ghosts from the Haunted Mansion, the Cheshire Cat, and more.

Mickey’s Trick and Treat

Looking for a live show full of not-so-scary moments? Check out Mickey’s Trick and Treat. Mickey and Minnie’s friends Goofy and Donald stop by the fun, but things really get “wacky” when their friend Parker gets into a “mad scientist” costume and brews up a potion.

The show has 2 original songs, video projections, special effects, and more. On the first night, the show was offered at 6PM, 6:45PM, 7:30 PM, 8:45 PM, and 9:30 PM.

Things are getting scary!

Villains Grove

Another unique thing you can experience at Oogie Boogie Bash is Villains Grove. This takes place in the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. It seems some Disney villains have taken over and transformed the forest to be an enchanted grove, complete with interesting light effects, spooky sounds, and unique sights.

There are areas themed to Frollo, Maleficent, the Queen of Hearts, Scar, Dr. Facilier, the Wicked Queen, and more.

We recently spotted Lotso Bear from Toy Story 4, who was not on the Treat Trail.

He looks friendly, but watch out!

He might be a fluffy bear, but be careful!
