Why You Shouldn’t Panic About These Disney World Crowds Just Yet

There’s a reason we try to prepare you for the holidays in Disney World — they can be super crowded and busy. But some crowds show up for some holidays you might not expect.

The holiday crowds are coming!

We’ve seen some major crowds at Christmas and President’s Day, and even totally underestimated the spring break crowds, but how do the crowds look during Memorial Day weekend?

We look at the Memorial Day weekend crowds every year to hopefully help you prepare for your next vacation, but sometimes people are just unpredictable. This year, it’s looking like crowds are all over the place. At the gates of Magic Kingdom, things were looking pretty crowded.

However, throughout the park, things seem to be pretty evenly spread out.

Over in Hollywood Studios, the same can be said. Near the front of the park, there seems to be a decent crowd…

…but throughout the rest of the park, the crowds seem to disperse pretty evenly. It’s always nice when you don’t feel like you’re pushing against other people’s shoulders 24/7!

However, some of the largest crowds we’ve seen are actually over in Disney Springs!

Once again, the crowds aren’t totally overwhelming, but they’re certainly some of the most tightly packed we’ve seen so far this holiday weekend.

When it came time for park hopping, the line to enter Disney’s Animal Kingdom was very long! This is a good sign that crowds are a little heavier than they have been the past few weeks.

UPDATE: On Memorial Day (Monday, May 29th), we headed into the parks again! Are crowds worse on the actual holiday? Let’s find out.

Entering Magic Kingdom

In Magic Kingdom, we encountered crowds surrounding some of the more popular rides.  It was pretty busy over by Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

But then, as we walked through the rest of Frontierland, it was surprisingly empty.

Where are the people?

There was plenty of space to move around in Tomorrowland as well. We definitely expected heavier crowds in the walkways today.

So much space!

Over at EPCOT, things weren’t really any busier. Of course, there’s almost always a long line at Starbucks.

It’s pretty much always busy in here!

But once we got to the World Showcase, things were quite empty. We had plenty of space to walk around without running into other people.

Don’t believe us? Take a look at the Japan Pavilion! These certainly aren’t the crowds we would imagine for the start of summer break.

Finally, let’s head to Hollywood Studios. On Hollywood Boulevard, it was a little bit busier since this is a high-traffic area. But overall, still not terrible.

Overall, Memorial Day crowds haven’t been nearly as bad as other holiday weekends. We’ll keep an eye on things and update you if anything changes!
