We often talk about how no two days are alike around the Disney parks.
Things are constantly changing from one day to the next and you never know what you might experience! Disneyland fans were in for quite a shock when the Maleficent Dragon caught fire during Fantasmic!, causing Disney to suspend fire effects throughout the parks, including Disney World. But now, it looks like that has changed!
Typically during the Festival of Fantasy parade, a Maleficent dragon, shoots fire from its mouth. But recently, “out of an abundance of caution,” Disney paused that effect following the fire at Disneyland. We spotted the change for ourselves during a parade performance.
Disney hadn’t shared when we might expect to see any fire again throughout the parks, so we had been keeping an eye out for any updates. And as of May 16th, it looks like fire has returned to the Festival of Fantasy Parade! We got to see Maleficent do her thing during the festivities, check it out in this video:

A Cast Member told us that the dragon is only breathing fire in certain parts of Magic Kingdom. The fire effect is still suspended for part of the parade due to the proximity of flammable materials. This is one of our favorite parades in Magic Kingdom, so we’re thrilled to it almost back to its full glory.
