NEWS: Price INCREASE Announced for One Disney+ Plan

It’s a good time to subscribe, with all the original Star Wars and Marvel content, as well as all the other great shows and movies on the service. However, if you subscribe to the ad-free version of Disney+, we’ve got some news for you.

During the Q2 2023 earnings call, Disney announced that it had plans to raise the price of the ad-free subscription tier for Disney+. Currently, the price for ad-free Disney+ is $11 per month or $110 per year, but it seems like that price will increase by the end of the calendar year, according to Disney.

Disney said, “It’s critical we rationalize the volume of content we’re creating.”

Disney also rationalized this price increase by saying that “the pricing changes [they’ve] already implemented have proven successful.”

However, this is the only Disney+ subscription tier that was mentioned during the call for a price increase. Subscribers can also currently get Disney+ with ads for $7.99 per month or get various bundle options with Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+.

Disney also announced a HUGE change coming to the Disney+ app. Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the company would soon offer a “one-app experience” that will include Hulu content within the Disney+ app. This change was announced to happen before the end of 2023.

Disney introduced its ad-supported tier of Disney+ in 2022. Since then, the company has added over 1,000 advertisers, meaning it currently has more than 5,000 advertisers. Iger also reported that Disney saw “a reduction in streaming operating losses” over the last quarter. Being that he previously called streaming his “number-one priority,” it seems he’s been successful in his focus so far. Iger also stated that the company is confident that it’s on “the right path” to having long-term profitability with streaming.
